We’ve all decided that I don’t need more yarn but sometimes, I order yarn when I REALLY do not need more yarn.
I’ve started this sweater for Vince . .
I’ve made some good progress. That’s good. What’s not so good is that I could not find the rest of the yarn. I always – really . . always – keep all the yarn together in a project bag but I only had the gold skein and the blue skein I was working on. I looked everywhere . . for weeks!
Then I remembered that I took it all to MO with me last time. Did I leave some of my yarn in the hotel? Did I leave the yarn at the apartment? After spending more time than it was worth looking for it, I decided to order more. With Cascade, I’m pretty confident the colors/dye lots will be a decent match. I figured if I find the yarn, I’ll always use it – it’s Cascade 220 and I use a ton of that.
The yarn was scheduled to be delivered today (and obviously, it was delivered).
The colors look way off because they are down in a dark blue bag with our bad lighting.
This morning, before that yarn was delivered, I was looking for my black short boots. Vince said “There’s a bag of yarn with some shoes in it in the laundry room.” Huh? How come I haven’t seen it? I have been in the laundry room plenty but for some reason, I washed towels and dish towels from the apartment and put them back in that bag and it was my “take back to MO” bag and I never noticed there was yarn and shoes in the bag so all I was seeing were the things to go back to MO. I guess I brought it all back, partially unpacked it and started re-packing it without even noticing.
At least I didn’t buy more black short boots!

You’re as bad as me!! My problem, however, is that my house is such a mess that I can’t find ANYTHING I’m looking for!! Several years ago I took a Judy Neimeyer class and had to purchase the pattern (around $38, if I recall correctly) ahead of time. About a week before the class I decided I’d better start getting everything ready to go. Do you think I could find that pattern??? NO!! I decided I didn’t want to be embarrassed at the class, so ordered another one! Of course, I found the pattern the next day. I guess I can put the extra pattern in the guild collection for our dream baskets at our next quilt show…. But it’s still annoying – $38!!! That’s too much money to just throw it away….

My guess is there are several of us who have done (and will do again) something like this. It is so annoying and one of those things I never forget that I did.

Similar thing here: I lost track of a library book. I kept renewing the checkout, meanwhile finding out about replacing it. There is a re-stocking fee, but I found the book for less than cover price. Of course, ordering allowed me to find the library book! Doesn’t it drive you nuts/nuttier?
