Before I show my sock, I want to speak to those of you who want to knit socks or have tried to knit socks and failed or made socks but were unhappy with either the fit or the heel (holes), you owe it to yourself to tri Sockmatician’s Toe Up Sock pattern.
There’s a bit of math but everyone can make a perfect fitting sock using this pattern. It’s more like a formula and I think a confident knitter would not have any trouble, nor would anyone who has ever knitted socks, whether happy with them or not.
I don’t want to give away the pattern but once you know your gauge (stitches per inch), you measure your foot and there’s just no way to fail.
I’ve knitted socks for over a decade and still sometimes have holes where I pick up gusset/heel stitches. With this pattern, I’ve never had an issue with holes.
It is so easy to get a perfect fit because if you want the toe/ball area of your foot to be wider than the ankle area, by using the formula, you can do whatever you want and the only reason you would not get a perfect fit is because of errors in measurement. The math is quite simple. I believe a child could do it. There isn’t much math and the instructions are very clear. When I made my first pair, I was a bit confused but I was trying to read the entire pattern and work out the entire formula and I confused myself. Then I just worked through each area and didn’t worry about the next area til I got to that part and it all just works.
I wish these were solid colored socks so you could see how great these heels come together.
I’ve made good progress on this sock today, despite a nap that was way too long!
I’ll probably finish this sock tonight, then get started on the other one tomorrow. I will get past the cast on and increasing stitches for the foot, then save my notes in the project bag and save these for my knitting in the car project.
The progress marker about the middle of the foot is where I was when I started on these socks yesterday afternoon so I have made quick progress, considering this is fingering weight yarn.

Thank you for sharing about this pattern. After reviewing it I purchased it. His explanation & video were very helpful to me for the heel. Which I had done done before but due to health issues I’ve lost some of my cognitive abilities, so I found this very helpful. Also realized while watching the video I had learned how to to double knitting from him.

Tony the Tiger socks! Love them. I have news for you. I’m sure I could mess them up, in spite of the “no way” you enjoy. LOL

Maybe but even Chad wears his without ruining them. Addie’s socks go into the washer/dryer and outside without shoes and so far, I think she’s outgrown all that I’ve made her. Sometimes they look pretty ragged but I haven’t seen any holes.
