You probably all think I’m so enamored with Aldi that I wouldn’t even notice if something wasn’t amazing. I will tell you a couple of drawbacks to Aldi shopping. It may be just our location because I’ve never noticed this when shopping at the Pittsburg, KS or Joplin, MO Aldi stores but in our store, the fresh produce is kinda hit or miss . . too often miss. And, for some reason, the milk goes bad a few days before the expiration date so we mostly don’t buy milk there.
It think part of the problem with the produce is that we’re probably the last stop . . I don’t think there are any Aldi locations past us.
But, the other day Vince bought some Pink Lady apples and he has raved about them being so good. Then I remembered I had this in the pantry.
Part of our Superbowl snacks yesterday was this Apple Crisp. I wished for Blue Bell Homemade Vanilla ice cream, which Aldi has but I dare not buy ice cream because that’s where I lose what little bit of will power I have — I cannot stop eating ice cream if it’s here.
The Apple Crisp mix was so simple and it was delicious! This morning I was looking for something in the pantry and found another box of the mix . . didn’t even know I had another box and it doesn’t expire til the end of this month.
This was a really quick, easy and delicious dessert.

Yum! Pink Lady apples are my favorite for eating. I’m very picky about my apples, and there are a lot of them I will use in cooking, but not for eating fresh. I’ve never used a mix to make apple crisp, but it sounds good. The produce at our Aldi’s is quite good. I guess we’re not at the end of the line…:)

I am not crazy about Aldi’s fruit either. We do get the bananas. Wish they had Blue Bell ice cream, but they do not carry it. We have to go to Walmart for the ice cream

Really? Ours has a nice selection of Blue Bell.

I agree with you on the produce. Even if it looks good at the store, it does not last as long as other groceries or markets. Maybe they don’t hold it in cool enough conditions to get it to last longer.

Sounds great!

my understanding is that the fruit and veggies are not treated with the spays used for long times on shelves, a more natural state so with shipping they don’t last as long. Basically it is a buy it and use it place to buy fruit, That is fine with me.
