My First Socks

EDIT:  Sorry to have confused some of you. I did a post last night and said I was going to start posting an old post every evening for a while. As I was going through and deleting some old posts, I found some of them interesting. This is the first of the old posts. This is from 2005 or early 2006.

I’ve actually had lots of socks in my lifetime but this is the first one I’ve ever knitted. I’m so proud of it! Can’t wait to make a second one so I can wear them.

Does it look halfway right?

The lady at the knitting shop not too far from me told me that I would never figure out how to do the heel by myself. Well, she wasn’t completely correct. Susan had sent me a site that has little video clips so I was able to watch the video and figure out how to do the heel and the gusset and then how to do the kitchener stitch at the end.

I’m not going to miss my fabric stash at all while it’s packed away .. I’ve purchased yarn to make several pairs of socks and I want some of the Alpaca yarn but I wanted to be sure I could figure this out.

Off to start the second sock before I let myself get sidetracked and start a whole new project!

Wait. I’m confused. I was inspired to knit sock years ago and used your recommendation of a sock pattern that has been one of my favorite knitted socks patterns but that a couple of years ago. Is this post some renegade post circling the universe for years?

No. Yesterday or this morning I posted that I was going to share some of my very old posts every night for a few weeks.

I was confused too! Thought socks was your passion for a number of years after quilting…

Oh, my gosh. Reading comprehension still rules. LOL I don’t think I’ll ever be posting something like this even once, but your excitement about doing it surely came through. =)

I absolutely love that you shared this! I have 1 1/2 sock finished. The first one is the same size as yours 🙂 and the 1/2 one- stopped at the heal flap AND its different yarn than the first! I feel I should stubble through the flap knitting and then wear the two different socks at the same time! Oh how this made me laugh!

My favorite socks of 4-year-old grandson has stars and stripes on one sock and an entirely different arrangement on the second sock. Toes and heels are either red or navy. I’d like a pair like that for me. Some days, anything goes with socks.

So true! Socks and hats are meant to be fun and a bit weird!
