It’s been three days of almost completely being off the blog and then several days of hit and miss trying to get on. It was so hard for me to not write blog posts. I convinced myself that I couldn’t hurt anything if I went online and wrote one quick post. I don’t know anything about any of the blog workings but I figured the worst that could happen was that the new posts wouldn’t get picked up with the transferred posts. Then I remembered – the new host people told me to stay off the blog til they got it all changed over so I obeyed my orders and stayed off.
The weirdest thing happened though. I so rarely get sick. Addie’s kindergarten germs about got the best of me last year. Every time I would go there, I’d get sick, but this year I’ve done much better. I usually end up with a trip to the doctor during cedar pollen season with a sinus issue but so far this year, it hasn’t been too bad.
Monday night – everything was fine. I felt normal. We went to bed and all of a sudden, I was freezing. I am never cold at night. Poor Vince – we keep the a/c on about 64 degrees and if the pollen isn’t too bad, we open a window if it’s below 60 outside and we’ve had a recent rain . . which is rare, but without rain, it’s so dusty here and there’s pretty much always a gritty, gusty wind blowing.
Monday night we got in bed and I suddenly was very cold. I got up and raised the thermostat to 68. Back in bed, my feet were so cold, my bones were hurting. I didn’t want to put ice cold feet on Vince but I put my feet just close enough to him to try to get some of his warmth. He moved and his leg ran into my feet and he said “Why are your feet feel like ice cubes?” I told him I was freezing so he got up and turned off the ceiling fan. He told me to go ahead and put my feet on him and he’d get them warm. Nice husband! I guess we both fell asleep but it was a restless sleep for me, which is very unusual. Then I heard thunder off in the distance and I was thankful Rita hadn’t heard it yet, or, hadn’t reacted if she heard it. About the time I went back to sleep, she heard it and came sailing over into our bed from her little bassinet. I grabbed her soft blanket, wrapped her up as tightly as I could and kept saying “It’s ok!” “You’re a good girl!” She doesn’t like to be held close so I held her only tightly enough to keep her from jumping out of the bed. When there’s thunder, she doesn’t know what she wants — she just doesn’t want to hear it and she doesn’t want to be held.
It was about 1:30 a.m. when the thunder had stopped and I felt she was relaxed enough to put her back in her bed. It’s funny because apparently her hearing is so much better than ours. Even when we no longer hear thunder, she can still hear it so there’s no use trying to put her back in her own bed til she decides it’s safe to do.
My feet were still cold so I got up and put on some warm, fluffy wool socks. I went back to sleep and when I woke up, the fan was back on. I had taken my socks off too. I remember using my feet to pull them off so I wouldn’t have to sit up in the bed or try to reach them with my hands.Vince said he woke up and I was burning up. He said he’d never felt me so hot so he got up and turned the fan on.
That was all so weird. I felt fine on Tuesday. I think I had blogitis – missing writing blog posts so much that it made me sick! 🙂

That is definitely weird. Something in that thunderstorm!
