Yesterday afternoon I walked over to the shop, to see if the hard wired internet in there would work . . it would not.
I passed by my car and there was Cat, sitting there like he owned the place.
We keep the rug up there over the sun roof because she sharpens her claws on the gasket if it isn’t covered up. She thinks we put the rug up there to keep her comfy!
I got kinda close. She didn’t hiss but she didn’t want to be petted either. I get frustrated that she’s been around so long, we’re dedicated to providing for her, but we can’t make much headway with being her friend. Then I remember how wild she was when she first came here. She’s been here 5 years now. We may be as close to her as we’ll ever get but I’ll keep trying.

She certainly looks comfy…..guessing she didn’t let y’all know where she was/what she was doing the other day, LOL.

That’s quite a glare!

Five years! I can hardly believe she still hisses at you, the little hussy!
I imagine those jugs are to keep the rug in place in your Texas winds.

Even a lot of house cats do this!!

I rescued 2 feral kittens, brother and sister, when they weighed 1 lbs and 4 oz. The boy let me sit next to him and pet him but his sister never did. She would jump and run if I ever moved to fast or too close. Oreo, black and white, passed at 16 and Taffy died a year later, from a stroke, found her one morning laying in the hall. She meowed but did not move, only time I ever got to touch her, gave us both comfort I hope. Kitty’s have their own rules.

You probably are as close as she wants to be, but it’s a long way from where she was 5 years ago … and she survived the five years!
Robin Crittenden says
Just leave her be. It’s got to be on her time. She loves you and is comfortable with you. You are her safe haven.
