First, it’s ridiculous to have this much yarn; second, trying to organize it at this point in the game is about hopeless.
The sewing room yarn was pretty much organized. I’d guess about 75% of the yarn in there has been entered on the spreadsheet and is in tubs. The yarn in the house . . zero had been added to the spreadsheet though it was in tubs but with no rhyme or reason to what was in which tubs.
It doesn’t matter a whole lot to me what’s in the tubs just so it’s all entered on the spreadsheets with the tub numbers. If I have to go to five tubs to find ten skeins of yarn, I can do that. I have spent the entire day entering yarn on spreadsheets and moving tubs around.
When we moved the recliner out of the extra bedroom the other day, I re-arranged everything and that gave me plenty of room to stack more tubs so I started over with all the tubs in the house.
It’s going to take a few days .. maybe a few weeks, to get it all entered and those are not going to be consecutive days!
One thing for sure . . going through all this yarn is giving me more incentive to stop ordering. There’s no place to put more yarn and I really do love what I have and want to use it.

The more effort you put into keeping track of yarn, the easier it will be to find it AND you will be able to stroke it and pet it and imagine it made into something beautiful, because then you will be able to locate what you want and also see what other yarns are hiding near it. I’m all for organization.

I have been working on the fabric in my sewing room. Out of control. So much to touch. I love it all.

Well if you find any you really don’t like, you know where I live!! LOL Good luck with this.

The only time I get a real sense of how much yarn I truly have is when I drag it all out from its hiding places and re-sort or check it all for those sneaky, evil flying beasts known as eaters of wool aka wool moths. It is during those moments I panic and swear I will never buy yarn again…after it’s all put away, I go back to looking at yarn in stores and saying “ooh! Pretty! I want! Here’s my credit card!” 🙂

I have run out of room in my studio for any more fabric. That’s incentive to stop buying!

That’s how I feel about my fabric, though I think you have a lot more tubs of yarn than I do of fabric. LOL
