Vince sent this email with the attached article. Notice that he thinks yarn should be #8 on the “Money Leaks and How to Plug Them” list.
The article is at AARP. I’m not a huge fan of the organization but we are members and obviously, Vince reads their articles.
In my mind, it’s like Finance 101 – don’t pay bank fees; don’t pay credit card late fees; don’t waste food. Honestly, if you’re the age to be an AARP member, my guess is that you already know these lessons and have practiced the for a very long time or you just aren’t going to learn the lessons. But, the people writing the articles are the ones making the big $$ and I’m the one sitting home trying to figure out how to sneak yarn, Vince’s proposed #8 to the list, into the house so listen to them . . don’t list to me.
Speaking of yarn, here we are on day 5 of the new year and I haven’t ordered yarn and haven’t been tempted and before you giggle and think this isn’t quite an accomplishment, here are my orders from Eat, Sleep, Knit from last year at this time.
I’m not saying the dollar amount but I will say that those five orders would have paid three months rent at the apartment. I’m feeling very strong with my effort to not buy yarn but it’s probably mostly because I’m more excited about other things now (the trips to MO).

Might I enquire as to the success of the multiple mushroom plugs that were purchased, and the 300 pounds of wax?!!!
Deb Praus says
I was kinda wondering about those also, LOL

The comments from Jill and Deb made me laugh! I remember when my brother-in-law went together with a friend and bought a Beechcraft Twin Bonanza airplane. My sister told me, “I can buy all the fabric I want now!”

AND, what about all the duplicates hubby has purchased because someday the current one might die? Or a 4y supply of toilet paper?
They all make me laugh!

Also you have been very busy trying to get the apartment in order before you leave. Did you find a bed? I am sure you are exhausted by the time you get to the hotel. And playing with Addie is a lot of work but not the kind you don’t like! Just be very careful on your drive home.

anddddddd did you tell him no excessive buys on sale items ? LOL Once a week trips to the stores and make it all in one trip not many. Yep lots of things to learn if a newbie for sure !
We have AARP and well not really happy with them but they do save us a few dollars here and there!!

Then you’ve already saved enough to pay more than my mortgage for the month, too! LOL That’s a lot of saving, so good for you. I know you can stick to it all year. You have more than enough yarn already, and if you hadn’t liked it, you wouldn’t have bought it!
