Almost! My car was so packed – vacuum cleaner, mixer, immersion blender, steamer, quesadilla maker, toaster oven, plates, bowls, serving bowls, pots and pans, baking dishes, spices, dishtowels, several of the plastic totes with gaskets, measuring cups, measuring spoons, blow dryer, curling iron, shampoo. Then I bought things after I got here – bath soap, dish soap, dishwasher soap, laundry soap, paper towels, toilet paper, ziplock bags .. I can’t remember what all I bought.
Everything is put away – maybe not where it will stay but it’s put away for now.
I’m so pleased with the little kitchen. Here’s a funny story. I told Nicole . . “I usually buy the pod things for the dishwasher but I figured as humid as it is here, I’d be better off with the liquid for the dishwasher.” I actually stood there in the dishwasher detergent aisle at Walmart for quite a while thinking it all out and deciding which type detergent I should get.
Nicole looked at me and said “But . . there’s no dishwasher in there!” WHAAT? Right .. no dishwasher. That’s when I remembered they didn’t have a dishwasher when they lived here! When the apartment was advertised, the one upstairs was advertised also and I’m pretty sure there was a picture of a dishwasher in that one so I assumed I had one too. I don’t!
I’ll take the Walmart brand dishwasher detergent home and use it in my dishwasher.
Over on that right side, which I suppose is the back side of the family room, there was a shelf that wasn’t level and it’s been making me crazy ever since I looked at the first picture. I fixed that the minute I walked in but didn’t take another picture. Not sure what we’ll put on those shelves . . probably nothing. Addie thinks we should keep our shoes there. Not sure about that.
This was once an old house and I assume this was the fireplace. I think it’s now where the TV is supposed to go – there’s a cable there and an electric plug in there but I doubt Vince wants the TV sitting on the floor. Addie has decided that she needs a chalkboard on that back wall and she could put a little chair in there and draw on the chalkboard. I think that’s an excellent idea!
The closets all have lots of shelves. I bought some of the shoebox size plastic boxes for our crafts. There’s really a lot of storage in the apartment for it to be so small.
The only thing I have left to do this trip is buy curtains and rods for the master bedroom, get them hung up, and figure out what to do with the bed. I’m not going to leave sheets on the bed. I’ll bring those from home each time so they’ll be fresh. I think I’m going to put the mattress cover on the bed, then throw a king size sheet over the top (queen size) just to keep the dust off it. I hope that’s enough to keep it clean.
I’m so pleased with our little place and can’t wait for Vince to see it.

I love it! For now you can put your projects and yarn on the shelves! A chair right by that window would be so convenient!

It’s been a while since you moved in to a new place. This is fun because you can see the potential and make plans without having to pack up your whole life.
