Vince and I were talking about New Year’s Eve parties and how in our younger years, we never considered NOT going to a party on New Year’s Eve. We haven’t been to a New Year’s Party in years and years! We just aren’t very social and neither of us drive after dark.
What’s funny is that I’m always up til well after midnight and tonight will probably be the night I fall asleep by 10 p.m. The highlight of my New Year’s Eve for so many years has been seeing the new Yarnathon program at Eat, Sleep, Knit. I’m not planning to participate much, if at all, in 2020 so even that doesn’t thrill me.
One thing for sure . . tomorrow will begin 2020 whether I see the New Year make its appearance or not!
If you’re going out, I probably don’t even need to say “don’t drink and drive” because I feel like my readers aren’t the kind of people who would put themselves and others in danger by doing that but please be careful. You know there will be impaired drivers out!
I wish you all a happy, healthy 2020!

One of our sons calls NYE amateur night. So many drinking who don’t know their limits.

I see the ball drop…some years…can’t remember the last time my husband saw it drop! He’s usually asleep on the sofa beside me. New house, new tradition this year…tomorrow the kids and my parents are coming over in the afternoon for an early dinner and football. I’m really looking forward to it! Happy New Year to you and yours and my 2020 be the best year yet!

Happy New Year….a group of 8 of us go to the movies all day….we get in about 4 movies maybe 5….we have been doing this about 30 years…we started with all our kids…everyone loves it….no drinking until we get home then we toast with a glass of champagne have a few snacks and then go to bed….sometimes before midnight sometimes after….

Happy New Year to you and yours! It was a blizzard here this morning and I’m not going anywhere today. I’ll be stitching instead.

The same to you and Vince. We will be staying home and all Pat will see at midnight is the insides of his eyelids!! It has been years since we went to a party also. We don’t like driving at night either and as you said there are those who imbibe and over do it, so I don’t want to be their statistic. I usually stay up until midnight as well but may not tonight. I never know how it is going to turn out! But being retired and not living on a farm, I usually sleep until 9 or even after! I don’t usually take a nap during the day so all is well.
I think I will let the young folks go to the parties and do all the stupid stuff I did when I was younger!

We haven’t been partiers for a long while. I don’t know how many years it’s been since John stayed up for the new year. He used to make it to east coast new year! Maybe again…it’s only 45 minutes. There was a cartoon today of a couple deep asleep, waking up at midnight to kiss, and right back to sleep!
I used to see signs for NYE parties on the way to quilt retreats (held in wine country). I shuddered to think of driving those dark, 55mph, unfamiliar roads along with people who had been “partying” (drinking).
Happy New Year, and make tomorrow a good day, to start the year off right!

We were never party goers – maybe twice in all the years we were together, and it was at friends’ houses, not some place fancy. My highlight has always been to watch the Times Square ball drop. Paul was from New Jersey, and we never went in to see it in person, but we always watched on TV. I still do.
