It was back in mid-July when I was bit by a spider on my finger. I’ve been back to the doctor twice for it. Once he gave me more antibiotics to take but the second time, he wanted me to see an orthopedic/hand bone specialist. He thinks there’s now a bone spur on the knuckle which he said can be caused by trauma . . your body sends whatever it thinks is needed after trauma and he thinks my body dumped calcium in the area of the spider bite and that caused a bone spur. And . . that’s what I remember he said but may not be exactly what he said.
I didn’t go to the orthopedic/hand bone doctor here because he’s already done surgery on this finger once and while I didn’t dislike him, I’m not sure he’s the one I’d go to again. I kept hoping this finger would get better, but it isn’t.
It’s the bad finger . . and it’s so sore. If I bump it on anything, it’s excruciating but just briefly. See how white that nail is? I think I may lose it and I’m kinda hoping as it grows out more and maybe comes off, that will relieve pressure and help with the pain.
But . . what do I know?
Carolyn says
yeah sounds like you need a HAND specialist….. not just an ortho surgeon.
Teri says
Yikes that looks sore. Wish I had some good advice for you but hope you get some relief from any pain.
Ruth says
I lost a big toenail. I tell you now, you do NOT want to lose that entire fingernail for any length of time. The nail bed will shrink and the new nail will not be able to grow properly. You might even have to have the ‘nail growing places’ killed so the nail will stop causing you pain. Better go to a hand surgeon and /or an orthopaedic hand surgeon and get it looked at as soon as possible.
Teri says
Holy Moly that looks like it hurts…go in MO to a Dr…maybe you will find one you like…take care of it before it gets worse.
Nelle Coursey says
My friend Mary went to a specialist in San Antonio, don’t know the name. There is a new one coming to Hendricks also.
Val says
Judy that looks like cellulitis, if it is, it is fairly serious you should see someone sooner than later. I had it in my hand/finger and the pain was unbelievable.
Ranch Wife says
Oh, that looks painful! Owie! I hope you can get in with someone who knows what’s going on and can get that tended to.
Susan Nixon says
It does look painful, and I’m a sissy, so I would see a doctor. I’ll go forever when things don’t hurt, but the minute they do, I’m in that office. LOL It may be that you’ve let it go long enough, and really should see someone, even if it’s someone you aren’t that crazy about.
