I walked over to the shop this morning and Cat was sitting up on her platform eating. I walked out and she was still sitting there watching me. I went back to the house, grabbed my phone and was able to get a couple of pictures of her.
I could have reached out and touched her. She didn’t hiss but she was very nervous of my being so close to her. After the second picture, she jumped down and stayed under the RTV til I went back in the house.
See her tipped ear? That means she was part of the barn cat program. She had been captured, spayed, vaccinated and then someone brought her home . . but she didn’t stay! We got two of the barn cats and were told to leave them in the crates for a few days so they knew where “home” was. I did but when I let them out, they took off and I never saw them again. I’m wondering if that’s what happened to the people who got Cat.
She’s such a pretty cat. I wish she’d let me pet her and she’d be a sweet cat. Boots is gorgeous, Cat is pretty . . we hit the jackpot with nice looking cats.

She is a beautiful cat! She is looking at you like, what are you doing here? You going to take my food away? Do not come any closer to me!

Torties are notoriously opinionated.

A neighbor of ours, who is also a farmer, always said that when you move a cat from one area to another to put butter on their paws and they wouldn’t try to go back home. She said it worked every time. Never had to try it, but it sounded interesting.

I love the look of tortoiseshell cats, but they do…have distinct personalities.
When I told my brother I’d like a tortie for my next cat, he was incredulous (and we’re cat lovers!)
