The other day I was talking to Nicole on the phone and Addie was in the background doing something but always listening.
Nicole: Chad had gone to an antique store and found another one of the bowls I like.
Me: That was nice of him to notice it and get it.
Addie in the Background: He didn’t get me anything!
Nicole: Well . . he should have brought you something too, don’t you think?
Addie: YES!
Nicole: He did bring you some milk.
Addie: But that’s for all of us . . not just for me.
I started laughing on the phone. She didn’t know Nicole was talking to me and she said:
Whoever you are . . I hear you laughing at me!
I said “WHOEVER I AM?? This is Granny!”
Oh . . then she needed reinforcement . . Don’t you think dad should have brought me something if he brought mom something?
I said “Does he always bring mom something when he brings you something?”
That got her attention!
I was cracking up when she said “Whoever you are . . I hear you laughing at me!” And she truly didn’t care who it was, she was standing her ground!
