We knew it was going to get cold today so, over the past few days, we did everything we needed to do outside. Even knowing it’s coming, it’s still a shock when it gets this cold this fast. We were out planting yesterday with shorts and short sleeves. Today . . we’re bundled up and trying to stay inside.
When we got up this morning, it was 63 degrees. Now, at 5:45 p.m., the weather station is showing 27 degrees. Accuweather says it’s 30, feels like 10, with light sleet. We have the heater running in the greenhouse, the heaters on in both chicken coops, a heat lamp on for Cat and Vince fixed up a wind block. She also can go into the shop if she wants but there’s no heater on in there. The heater is on in the sewing room for Boots and, of course, the heater is on in the house. That’s a heck of a lot of heaters running!
It’s suppose to be 21 tonight, feel like 9 — frigid according to Accuweather. I agree! Frigid in Texas . . don’t like it!
It’s been a good day to stay inside and knit, which is what I’ve done!

YIKES !!!! That is how it is on the other side of the Mountains from us. They had snow and a temperature drop of 30º. Brrrrrr……………………..
Rebecca in SoCal says
That’s quite a cold front over so much of the country! You’re in good company.
I saw you were to have freezing rain, but if this keeps up, maybe you will get that snow the persimmon seed predicted!

It can be a shocker some times! Now do you believe me about the 2 weeks of ice, snow and cold we had a few years ago?? LOL
Judy Laquidara says
This is our ninth winter here and I do remember a few winters ago when we had a lot of ice. What little bit managed to melt just refroze every night and was slick as could be the next morning. Trying to get from the house to the shop/carport was very treacherous because the water melting off the shop would drain down and freeze right where we had to walk.

Wow, that’s cold! It’s headed our way…raining now, turning to snow later this morning. Low 20’s tonight with very cold wind chills, not getting out of the 30’s tomorrow. You could have kept this weather, I’m not ready for it, since I was in Florida where it was 90 last week! Although, it was nice to put on my leggings, boots and a thick, cozy sweater this morning for work!!!
Linda in NE says
COLD here too. I think the high yesterday was 17. Better today, but the wind is blowing hard so makes it feel colder. It’s just too early for it to be so cold!
Susan Nixon says
Yes, we got it Monday night, along with rain, and you know what that means? We woke up to snow yesterday and never got above freezing. Last night’s low was predicted at 17, but I didn’t check. Wind chill was 12, and that’s way too cold for me! Today did go to 40, and it’s supposed to warm back up into the 50s and 30s by Friday. I do not like this, Sam I Am!
