Prefab Dinner

The Sauce & Rollatini

It’s been a busy day and it was getting time to get dinner started and I decided to pull a frozen dinner out of the oven – an rare treat for the cook around here because it’s a purchased frozen dinner.

I guess I hadn’t paid much attention to the package because (1) there were two packages of 4 each of the rollatini and (2) the instructions said “Add your favorite pasta sauce”. Hmm . . I don’t really like pasta sauce so there was no pasta sauce in the house except one I had bought to share with Addie:

I asked Vince . . how do you feel about pumpkin pasta sauce? That didn’t sound good to him. I said . . then we can either have it with chopped tomatoes or a can of tomato sauce with Italian herbs and I’ll add some garlic.

He decided the pumpkin sauce didn’t sound so bad.

It was actually delicious . . the rollatini and the sauce. In fact, Vince wanted to know where I bought the pasta sauce because he wanted to get more. I had made mozzarella/basil/tomato salad a few days ago so we had that in the fridge.

It was a quick dinner and I’m glad to have four more of the rollatini in the freezer but I’ll need to buy more pasta sauce.

I buy the pumpkin sauce whenever I happen to see it, which is usually only this time of year. Occasionally I find it at Aldi’s, and sometimes I will find a jar or two at Tuesday Mornings. I think it’s yummy.

I had never noticed it before. I’ll be watching for it now. It was quite tasty.

I never heard of those, but I like anything with eggplant. Wait. You ate 25 oz. of pumpkin pasta sauce with only 4 rollatini? Something doesn’t seem right there. =)
