Rude People

Electric Bill Estimate

I’ll never understand rude people. I guess that’s not exactly true. I can be rude but at a point when I’ve been as nice as I can be for as long as I can be but just to be rude when it’s just as easy to be nice . . I don’t get it.

There’s some finance/investment guy with a national company . . a name you’d probably all recognize if I said it . . but I won’t. He and Vince had talked and then Vince decided to go with a different company. Let’s call this guy RG for short (rude guy). He has called and called. Vince told him a while back that he had decided to let someone else handle whatever this guy was wanting to handle. He still kept calling and Vince stopped answering the phone . . because Vince recognized the number.

Yesterday Vince was outside and his phone rang. He doesn’t care if I answer his phone. This guy has left dozens of messages and Vince never returns his calls. The ID showed a number that was the same area code as our internet people so I answered it.

RG: May I speak to Vince?
Me: He’s outside working. May I have him call you back?
RG: This is RG with “RG’s company name”. He and I have been trying to set up a meeting.
Me: We’ve decided to deal with a different company and I’m sorry, but I think I remember Vince telling you that several months ago.
RG: Well, there are some things I need to share with him.
Me: Would you please just remove us from your calling list?

Clunk! He hung up the phone.

This guy makes his money selling his service. Why didn’t he say “Thank you. If you change your mind in the future or I can help you, please give me a call.”

Nope, just hung up. Yes, he was rude. Vince told me he felt like calling the company and telling them. I told him things I’d seen in their ads, I feel like they don’t care . . don’t waste your time. Be glad you didn’t go with him because the guy we’re using is super nice and I don’t think he’d ever be rude to anyone.

It all reminds me of an Addie story. Back when she had her bicycle accident, she was asking me if I had ever been to the emergency room. I told her a few times . . for kidney stones and because I ate hamburgers and I was allergic to hamburger meat. She thought that was funny but she remembers that I always take benadryl before I eat a hamburger. She was telling me about the times she’s been to the emergency room. I know she doesn’t remember them but she’s been told about them. Once was when a dog bit her on the face. She was so serious and she said “I don’t know why that dog bit me. I’m always kind to animals!” I told her . . sometimes you just never know why things happen. You can be kind to animals and they may bite you. You can be kind to people and they may be unkind to you but you never let those animals/people stop you from being a kind person. And even when someone is unkind to you, keep being kind to them.

So, who knows why RG was not kind . . more like why was he not polite but whatever has happened in his life or his job that makes him act that way, I’m sorry for him.

And speaking of sorry and benadryl . . there’s a limit to the number of persimmons one person should eat in a 24 hour period. Poor Vince. Yesterday afternoon he has swollen lips and he was itchy and he took a benadryl and I think he won’t eat any persimmons for a few days. He asked for a benadryl . .

Me: I’ll run get them. They’re in my car.
Vince: Why on earth is the benadryl in your car?
Me: Because wherever I am, if I eat a hamburger, you know I have to take benadryl before I eat it!
Vince: So you keep them in your car?
Me: Yes! Makes perfect sense to me. I’ll always have my car with me when I eat a hamburger!

I got my EpiPen out. He doesn’t have one but he could certainly use mine if his reaction got severe. His swelling was gone down and the itching was gone this morning.

And there you go . . I’ve told you three totally separate stories in one blog post!

A hamburger allergy sounds strange because you eat other beef. It just makes one wonder what sort of additives/preservatives might be put in commercial hamburger. What happens if you grind your own hamburger from a roast?

We have had a similar situation with a rep from a financial firm that Dave has a very small annuity with. This guy wants him to MOVE all of his other funds to this account. No chance of that happening. And after 2 years of dealing with the guy’s constant calls he has finally backed off the hard sell. I used to work with a “rude person” – no kindness filter for her. And she was proud that she “told it like it is” with people. We had several schools that requested nicely that she NOT come to work with their staff any longer.

Wow, that guy sounds like a rude person who has a hard time taking NO for an answer! Just be glad that you didn’t let him manage your finances! You could probably block his number from the phone but you’re probably done with hearing from him.

Wow wonder if the persimmon thing is like penicillin? I took it for years and when I got older I had an allergic reaction! If he eats more of them make sure you have the Benadryl handy!
