Yes, it’s stuck in my head because I’ve had my headphones on for three hours listening to it!
This is weird after the white shirt story I posted about yesterday.
I’ve been a country music fan forever. My parents listened to country music so it was pretty much all I knew growing up. My grandparents lived two hours north of us and almost every weekend, we’d go there. Mom taught and dad would get home about the same time mom did. We’d get loaded up and on the road quickly and be at my grandma’s before dark. For two hours on a Friday evening, we had country music blaring in the car and we all loved it, we knew all the words and we sang from Lake Charles to Many!
I thought I knew every Tammy Wynette song out there but the past few days a song has been coming on Pandora that I liked but I never really took the time to listen to it all. I only have it playing when I’m in the kitchen and I’ve been in and out with the canner being on the porch but I’d catch bits and pieces of this song.
Last night I started trying to find it on the internet. I wanted to hear it all and I could not find it. I thought the name of it would be something totally different and couldn’t find it. Then I began to wonder if it was really Tammy Wynette singing it. Finally, I found it but the name of the song is “I Stayed Long Enough” . . I never even heard those words. It’s old, twangy country but if you want to hear it, it’s here.
That just goes so much with what I posted yesterday about Vince . . he was just what I needed! When I finally found the song and listened to all the words, I couldn’t believe it. I had read my earlier blog post to Vince so I said “Listen to this song!” He is not a country music fan and I’m not sure he was thinking anything except . . I hope this ends soon, but really, I found it pretty amazing and to think I’d never heard it before or didn’t remember hearing it. I guess it was just what I needed to hear yesterday! 🙂
I can no longer add songs to my iPod. I think Apple now has a monthly or quarterly subscription but I didn’t want to mess with that so I ordered the CD that has this song. Do newer cars still have CD players? Of course, mine is old enough to have a CD player so you can bet this CD will make it with me to my next trip to MO.
I’ll be able to listen to it on YouTube til my CD gets here but I don’t think we have a CD player in the house. Oh well . . YouTube works.

For the new cars it is getting really hard to find ones with a CD player anymore! I guess everyone these days just plugs in their phone and streams it from there. I have been using Amazon music the free version (does not have Alexa either!) and they have a lot of songs available.

Sadly, no, new vehicles don’t come with a cd player. Everything wants you to do apple play or android play. Might have the apple play name wrong.

Oh funny. I love the old country too…the songs my folks played when we were growing up. I especially like Conway Twitty and if we are baking…he is singing. Last year the 3rd grade teacher was playing one of his songs and Emily was singing along. The other kids couldn’t believe she knew it.

We got a new car last year and it came with a CD player! It has all the bells and whistles, too, but I still love to play my CDs.

Go to one of the pawn shops or one of the antique stores and I bet you can find a CD player! LOL We have an old radio-CD player and every once in a while we use it. I think it also plays tapes.

My brother refers to the part of the state you took on your drive to your grandparents as the land of no radio. Pretty much just country music (some good classic country stations) and some gospel channels. I almost passed up the last exit with a gas station when I left Shreveport on Monday. Luckily I hit the magic number where the gas light came on. whew! I spent that drive once before panicking cause i was getting low on gas and nothing nowhere. I had to call my dad and track down a gas station. Not again!

Does your computer have a CD player? That’s not as common as it used to be, either, but maybe you have an old one?
