Dang it! Sometimes you just have to order yarn. You saw my post this morning. You know I tried to come up with yarn for a cowl for Addie’s teacher. It just wasn’t working. Someone asked about what colors she wears. I’ve seen her twice . . for about 5 minutes each time . . at school . . in jeans and a casual shirt.
I played it safe and went with school colors! Who doesn’t love their school colors . . really? Mine were orange and black and I still love orange and black and those are probably one of the worst combos. The schools in their town all have the same colors . . I think it’s red/gray but anything from black to dark gray to light gray seems to work.
These two colors will be perfect. I think all along this is what I had in mind and therefore, nothing I found was going to be exactly what I wanted.
I actually had a credit at Eat, Sleep, Knit so this, along with a bit of other yarn I ordered hardly cost anything. Just because I have more yarn than I’ll ever use doesn’t mean I can never buy yarn when I feel like I need it!

I love these colors and I think she will also! These colors will look good together even if she goes to another school sometime.

Bonus is that you can use the same colors for Addie’s teacher next year as well

I completely understand the sentiment. I do the Sam with fabric. I have enough to open my own fabric shop but I never bought plain colors. It’s not easy putting together blocks when you don’t have background colors or just plain colors!! Now when I go shopping I generally only look at patterns and plain colors….

I honestly do not believe that ordering yarn for a present is really buying yarn – since it will not be added to the stash!

Me either except I can see this . . if I need to use 5 skeins of yarn, using yarn out of the stash means 5 skeins less but buying 5 skeins and using them does nothing to reduce the stash but in the end . . it’s all about having fun and enjoying the process so as long as I’m not causing any financial problems by getting the yarn I need or want, he just likes giving me a hard time.
