A Funny Addie Story

Monday in the Kitchen

Addie has been wanting a baby sister. She’s been begging. Mom is ok with it . . Dad, not so much. I kinda don’t have a lot of hope that there will be another grandchild but that’s their business and I do not intervene. Heck, I’m not sure I can afford another grandchild!

But, Addie has just been begging. Nicole’s sister had a baby a couple of weeks ago and I’ve noticed Addie’s excitement about a baby has been waning. Before the baby was born, they had gone shopping for baby things – Nicole, her mom, sister and Addie. Addie was not happy that everything they were buying was for the baby.

Once the baby arrived, Addie couldn’t get enough of him . . for a couple of days.

Nicole told me that Sunday her sister’s husband had gone hunting and she called to see if Nicole would come over and help her with a few things. Nicole asked Addie to go with her but Addie said she’d stay home with her dad. When Nicole got home, Chad told her that Addie said “I’ve changed my mind. I do NOT want a baby! If mom has a baby, that’s all she’s going to think about! She’s going to completely forget about me and YOU!”

I don’t know how Chad kept from cracking up . . I would have! You have to wonder what goes through a child’s head. This is why they should have had another baby when Addie was 3 or 4. I’m sure she’d be fine with it if it happens but I thought it was so funny that she told Chad . . she’ll forget about me and you!

I’m told I begged for a baby sister. The rest of the story is when I got one I told mama – you can take her back now. ?

Ah, yes! Getting what you wish for isn’t always what it’s cracked up to be! ’nuff said!!

When my granddaughter got her baby sister she said her sisters could have their other grandma who lived far away and she’d keep me

My granddaughter wanted a sister but when she was seven, my son remarried to a woman who had an 18 month old, she was not happy. Turned out, what she really wanted was another seven year old to play with, not a little sister with whom she had to share attention.
