I went out to give the chickens some carrot scrapings and there was another dead chicken just past the edge of the coop. I counted heads and was still missing one so I walked around the orchard . . it’s about 1.5 acres fenced and that’s where the chickens live . . and I found another one so, as of now, we have 3 dead hens and 1 that’s not likely to make it.
I know it’s just chickens but they’re all pets and I hate that this happened.
I’m still thankful it’s never happened before and hope it never happens again.

So very, very sorry :-(.

Oh, that’s too high a price! That ol’ possom surely got his licks in before he got caught. Why would it kill them if it didn’t plan to eat them?
Teri says
So sorry to hear this. They are not just chickens; they are pets. Very sad.

I am so sorry this happened. I know how you can become attached to your animals! They may just be chickens to some people, but they are your charges and you know each one by name.

Sorry to hear of your losses. I lost my Betty Rubble to a hawk about 90 days ago now. I have a secure area for my hens when they cannot come out into the non-secure fenced-in area.
Jean says
I am so sorry, Judy.
