How weird is it for two ceiling fans to stop working at the same time? Even though they were both purchased and installed when the house was built in 2006, one rarely gets used and one gets used all the time. There are three other fans in the house that still work fine so it isn’t like a fan virus or anything.
In bedroom #2, which is the bedroom closest to the family room, I keep that fan going and never turn it off . . winter, summer . . it always stays on. I have some yarn stored in that room, my loom is in that room. If one of us is not feeling well, I usually end up sleeping in that bedroom. My clothes are mostly in that closet. About a month ago, that fan started making noise. It got to the point that sitting in the family room, the noise from the bedroom was bothersome so we went looking for a new fan but Home Depot didn’t have one we liked so we’re looking online. It just hasn’t been a real priority.
In bedroom #3, about the only time I turn that fan on is if I have a knitting item blocking on the mats, which I have set up on the bed in there. Even with air or heat going, the fan helps things dry faster. Last night I went to spread a sweater our to dry, turned the fan on and it buzzed. It wouldn’t come on at all. Vince looked at it and said . . heck, I’ll just buy two and replace them both.
I thought it was pretty crazy that both of them, at the same time, had different issues that made them need to be replaced.

Didn’t you have a nearby lightning strike this summer? Something like that can damage electrical stuff even if it doesn’t kill them right off. That can happen weeks or months later.

Sounds like your luck is similar to mine…. We just had 2 water leaks fixed to the tube of $1500! Now my computer died, so I have to use my phone for everything. I’m hoping I can get everything off the hard drive. Hubby says I’m cursed in regard to anything electronic. I just have to look at a computer and it will turn off or do something strange. Story of my life… 🙁

That is strange! We had one the other day that was making a noise so Pat sprayed it with canned air and it stopped!

I only have one in the house, and it was here in 2011 when I bought the place. It’s starting to make noises, but I figured it needed to be dusted inside. LOL Next spring, maybe I’ll have a son take it down and clean and oil it and see what happens. It is odd you have two going out at once, with such different use patterns.
