Tuesday when I was organizing yarn, I came across a cake of yarn that had suffered a blowout. It was Madelinetosh Tosh Merino Light and it was lime green. The actual color is Grasshopper. My first thought was to throw it in the trash and forget about it. But (1) it’s Madelinetosh and (2) it’s lime green – my favorite color.
A favorite cardigan is made with Madelinetosh Pashmina in Grasshopper.
Another shawlette type piece also is made with Pashmina in Grasshopper.
And then there’s this vest made with Madelinetosh A.S.A.P. in Grasshopper and Fathom.
You see . . I do love that color! But here’s the mess I found.
I thought I could just take an end and re-wind it on the ball winder but that didn’t work so I stood there for 1 hour, 22 minutes trying to untangle it. Then I walked away . . back to organizing the yarn. I totally forgot about it and was already in bed and I remembered I’d left it all on the cutting table. I figured Boots had found it and the yarn was going to be everywhere but he had not. I sat down and spend another hour and 45 minutes but I’m happy to say . . it’s untangled and ready to be used.
I don’t have a project in mind but I knew I couldn’t toss it out. Only once have I ever had such a mess with a tangled ball of yarn that I threw it out and I’ve never quite forgiven myself for not having spent the time to untangle it.
