The much awaited shipping notice! Madelinetosh yarn dyers is a fairly small company with a huge business and with this latest “final sale”, which none of the customers seem to know for sure what’s going on, they have to be inundated with huge orders. It started out at 40% off everything and then within a few days, it was 70% off for long enough that there was a lot of frenzy buying going on (not me, of course!), then it went back to 60% off. In the beginning, it was fairly easy to snag anything I wanted and in the quantities I wanted but it has gotten progressively more difficult to get anything!
My first few orders were sweater quantities and towards the end, and my ordering has ended, it was a skein here and a skein there.
When we were going to MO, Vince was driving. At one point, I got on my phone just to see what they had up on the website and there are a lot of OOAK (one of a kind) skeins and apparently only those with lightning fast internet connections were able to get anything. I’d put a skein in my cart, go to check out and it was gone. I must have been making a “tssssk” sound because Vince kept saying “What’s wrong?” NOTHING!! I wasn’t about to admit to trying to buy yarn while cruising down the interstate.
My first order was placed 9/24 and I just today got the shipping notice. Farm Twist in both Sabine and Beautiful Liar, 9 skeins of each, which is a bit over 2,000 yards each – plenty to make two beautiful sweaters and maybe have enough leftover to come up with a fade project some day.
I have been waiting for an update too, I had saved a copy of my order to my computer, but still was worried about the lack of conformation. I realized that I didn’t fill out my email address correctly the order form. I sent them an email asking about my order and if they could up date it with the correct email. I got back a response:
We are currently working on all orders from the sale. We had a huge influx of orders, so it’s taking longer than the usual sale time of 10-14 business days to dye, dry, pack, and ship the yarn. You will receive an email with your tracking information as soon as your order ships.
We appreciate your patience while we work through all of these orders.
I hope they changed the email though 😉
At least two sweaters, anyway. Would you use the one skein for socks?
This is interesting. I ordered some things when it was 70% off. I was under the assumption that she was just clearing out old stuff. Do you think she is going out of business? I did get a thank you for ordering, but haven’t heard when it will ship. I, too, tried ordering a few other things, but by the time I looked up what I needed for a particular pattern, the yarn was gone. It definitely was a feeding frenzy.
