Friday Vince and I were driving to town . . don’t laugh . . we did stay home one day last week . . and he said to me “Would you make my brother a pair of socks?” Of course! I love my brother-in-law and, I love my husband and I try to do the things he wants me to do . . unless it involves not buying yarn and then I have to defy his request. 🙂
Yesterday after finishing my green sweater, I started digging for yarn. When I first started knitting socks, I bought a bunch of Opal sock yarn and that is one of the best yarn for socks for people who don’t want to hand wash. Simply Sock Yarn always has a nice selection of Opal yarns, as well as several others that are great for socks that get machine washed.
I asked Vince what color he wanted e to use, knowing there would be several options. He said “Something manly – brown, gray, blue, green!” I said “So, anything but pink, right?”
I found this one, which is an Opal yarn. I think it’s actually much darker than it appears in that photo . . much more gray. I hope Vince sees the value in having a nice stash of yarn!
The cast on is done, as well as a couple of rows of the ribbing. Getting started on socks is the hardest part for me. I usually get them twisted and have to start over at least once but last night, I got it right the first time. I hope to get these done quickly and in the mail to my hilarious brother-in-law.

I hope he knows how much time and love you put into those! And how special he must be for you to do this for him.

That’s awfully nice of you. I think it must be great to have someone to make them for who will appreciate them, too.
