After a two week sabbatical, of sorts, it’s good to be back for another opportunity to share my thoughts and actions with all of you. A little bird suggested that more effort needs to be put into the actions and less into the thoughts. I need not say more on the associated discussion resulting from this comment but, if (note I said if) there are to be more actions it will be the result of the need to fulfill some deep desire for satisfaction or the need of another hot meal (as it was put to me). I think I should end this here. You know the younger Vince would keep going but the older, wiser Vince still wants to eat.
The summer heat has been dragging on this year and with it has been my desire to get a whole lot accomplished. However, I can see a light at the end of the tunnel approaching. The mornings are cooler and the temperatures are more bearable mid-day. As I have noted in the past, I am very much a morning person. If it’s not done my 3 PM, it will have to wait until tomorrow. With the days getting shorter, I find myself wanting to get up earlier so that I can get my “thought” and coffee drinking time out of the way before the sun brings just the right amount of light to facilitate working outdoors.
On the agenda last week was getting the garden ready to plant and taking more accumulated treasures to the dump. I have not abandoned my minimalistic quest, but I figure that as long as less is coming in than going out, I am on the right path. Honestly, my desire to buy stuff has pretty much disappeared. About the only stimulation I have to aquire is obtained from watching Youtube videos where someone has made some neat gadget that I want to replicate or make even better. I did order a few parts to make use of an old treadmill motor. No, I didn’t buy a treadmill! It was left with the house because it didn’t work. Now, I found a cheap way to make use of a good motor. If you have an old unused treadmill and have the need for a variable speed DC driven motor, there is hope you can put it to good use without spending a lot of money. And that is your money saving tip for the week.
The other thing I began working on is an auto feeder for Cat. The parts came in some time ago so now I just have to find them and the original plans. Some other things I am getting fired up about are using a mini CNC machine to draw pictures. Some people do this with a hobby vinyl/paper cutter. I could give this approach a go too, but I want to tinker and proprietary software and hardware doesn’t allow for much tinkering. Finally, I need to find some space where I can keep my 3D printers setup. Moving them around throw off the calibration.
That’s about it for now. It may seem like this post addresses more thoughts about actions than the actions themselves but, as we all know, good, quality, discussed, shared, man-thoughts have to precede actions or mama might not be happy. And, as we all know, if mama ain’t happy, nobody is happy!
Have a happy week!

Good to hear your thoughts about actions. Were you looking here for sympathy? LOL, wrong place!
The whole treadmill motor thing got me thinking, and I sent that comment to my son, because we do have a treadmill that other son messed up, so maybe we should take the motor off and use it (for something or other!), letting son #2 scrap the metal from the treadmill and buy a meal or two. LOL

So glad you are better and so sorry you had to go through all that! Judy may have told you, we had that in 1973! We have not been to a Sonic since! We both still have trouble!!

I’m just wondering about that auto-feeder…. how will you keep ants and such out of it? Maybe there’s a link you could share? If you can keep critters out of it while feeding Cat, I know somebody who would be interested in one, too. Thanks!

We’ve already solved that problem with her current feeder and I’m sure Vince will rig up something similar for the other feeder. Currently, he built a little platform with metal legs. The metal legs are in shallow dish and he put something similar to Vaseline in the dish and up the legs a bit. Whatever he put is brownish and thicker than Vaseline but if ants climb up that, they get stuck. So far, even in the heat, it has stayed fine.
