Vince is still working on getting the spot in the garden ready to plant garlic and onions. This morning I thought he was going to use some of the leftover dirt from the internet tower to add to the garden. I heard the tractor and went to get a picture. This is the pile of dirt by the tower. It’s really nice, rich dirt without rocks.
That’s where I expected to find him but as I was walking down the driveway, I met him coming back towards the house with no dirt on the tractor.
He stopped and I asked “Where’s the dirt?” and he said “I have to move the brush first.” That made no sense to me but I was sure he had a plan. I walked on up to the dirt pile to see if he had moved any of it and he hadn’t but on my way back to the house, I met him headed up the driveway.
Now he has a load of brush and he was headed up to a brush pile. I still wasn’t sure what he was doing but then I went back out and figured it out.
When he cleans out the chicken coops, he dumps it all in this spot. I’m not sure why or when but brush had been piled up on top of the chicken manure pile so he moved all that brush and he’s adding the composted chicken manure to the garden. Then he may add dirt but I’m thinking he’s going to be tired because he’s been out working – tilling, cutting brush . . oh, wait . . the brush wasn’t piled on top of the chicken manure; the brush was in the way of getting to the chicken manure pile so he had to move it. I see now! 🙂
Anyway . . I think he’s playing with his tractor more than he’s working but I’m not complaining. He said he’s going to sell the tractor when we move. That makes me sad! 🙁
Seeing the pictures – the peace, quietness here, I never want to move from here. Then I see pictures of Addie and I never want to leave there. Dang . . such difficult decisions we’re going to have to make some day.

I’m surprised he didn’t do a double-duty trip – maybe there was a reason he didn’t go one way with brush and back the other way with the composted chicken poop. Maybe he needed more tractor time. =)

I haven’t heard anything about the mushrooms…after all the work, did they produce anything? Always wondered about that, since most places that mushrooms grow are cooler than Texas, I thought. We have several indoor mushroom facilities in Alberta, much cooler here, of course. First snowstorm last weekend, gone fairly quickly, but more forecast for later this week. Time to head to ARizona! Thanks for your fun blog, really enjoy BOTH of your perspective, though Vince doesn’t post as often as you. Jill in Calgary/Phoenix

Jill there is still no mushroom bloom but I am hoping it happens in the next few weeks. It was 96 here today so I would stay low too! V PS I use to go to Lethbridge a lot.

Maybe he is thinking he won’t have to do anything and everything will just keep on going as it has been??
