First, yesterday I did get to stay home all day. Today . . nope! This morning Vince wanted to go to town. I agreed to go because I needed to pick up more little advent trinket gifts for Addie. I have a trip coming up soon and I may be back before Christmas but I’m not sure and probably won’t be sure til after my upcoming trip. So, I want to take all the advent gifts and Christmas gifts this trip and that way, if I don’t go back, I don’t have to mail everything.
Before we left for town this morning, I again checked the Madelinetosh sale. Everything on the site has been 40% off for over a week. There were other things that were an additional 15% off but Tosh Merino Light had never had any additional discount, other than the 40% off. I was hopeful they would add another 10 to 15% off that. I had ordered a few skeins but not a lot.
We brought all the stuff into the house that we had bought. I fed Rita, took her out, put some clothes in the washer, sat down, grabbed the computer and went to Madelinetosh’s sight. 70% off everything. Before I could help myself, I gasped and Vince said “What’s wrong?”
Me: 70% off
Vince: Madelinetosh
Me: Yes!
Vince: Order something!
Me: OK! (I already had yarn in my cart so all I had to do was hit “buy”.
Vince: I’m ordering yarn too! (He cannot pass up a sale!)
Me: What are you getting?
Vince: Something to make me a sweater.
There weren’t a lot of choices – especially masculine choices so he chose Nocturne which is a gray with what looks like a bit of burgundy or rust in it, and a very dark blue and I ordered those to make him two sweaters.
I’m really sad because even though there’s been no formal announcement about Madelinetosh’s future, I think it’s looking bleak for those of us who have used Madtosh as our go to yarn for so many years. But, for some of us, we’ll still have Madtosh to use til the day we die or til we hang up those sharp, pointed sticks we call knitting needles.
I hope whatever the future holds for Amy and the Madelinetosh family, things work out well for them. They’ve certainly provided the knitting community with lots of pleasure for the past 13 years.

That is sad. I hate to see anyone go out of business.

Wow. That’s an amazing sale. I agree that it looks like a total empty out. Vince is hilarious!

The founder of Madeline Tosh, Amy, posted on IG that she’s been diagnosed with MS. Hopes and prayers that all goes well for her during this change in her life.
