This year, prior to the Madelinetosh sale, I had been doing great about not buying too much yarn. I had bought some but mostly what I bought was what I felt I needed for a specific project. In fact, just about all the yarn I’ve bought was the Farm Twist when I kept trying to get the right fade for my Comfort Fade Cardi.
It was worth all the effort to get a fade I was happy with.
Vince gives me a hard time about the yarn I buy but mostly, he’s just giving me a hard time and he doesn’t really care. Even when he might be seriously giving me a hard time, I don’t get real concerned because he’s way worse than I am. At least I’m buying something I’ll some day use . . maybe. He mostly buys things that are on sale . . things that there’s a slim chance he’s ever going to use.
Let’s take coffee pots/makers for an example. If Vince didn’t have a coffee pot he loved, I could see him buying a coffee pot to try; maybe not loving that one and buying another one.
Not necessarily by choice, I’m almost always with him when he’s shopping and when he picks up something, I’ll say “Why are you buying that?” and then, either “I don’t think you’ll ever use it” or “You have five just like it at home!”
Yesterday on the way back from Abilene, he stopped at Goodwill and I stayed in the car with Rita. He came out with an espresso maker. I said “Don’t you have one of those at home? He didn’t think so but I remembered buying one.
I had to go take a pot upstairs in the shop where we store extra things and there was his espresso maker that’s been sitting upstairs for no telling how long.
I have no idea how much he paid for it. $140 was the lowest price sticker on it but it seems like it may have half off that. I just can’t remember.
As I was walking out, I noticed a brand new coffee pot still in the box sitting on the shelf. I kinda like that that one will dispense hot water!
And before I got to the end of the shelf, there was another one still new in the box. I know there are two or three French press coffee makers on another shelf. I do think there’s a coffee pot in the box in one of the sewing room closets and I’m not sure there’s not another one in the shop.
I’d say there’s no chance that I’ll run out of yarn or that Vince will ever need to buy another coffee pot.
So, no . . I do not feel bad about the yarn I buy.

This is why I always smile when Vince talks about being a minimalist. 🙂

Soooo, neither you nor Vince believe in keeping all the coffee/espresso makers in one place so you know what you have…. (a “kon-mari” principle)
I suppose Vince doesn’t go out into these other storage areas much, looking to see what he already has.

It’s funny but Pat is always telling me I need to order yarn from the company he bought me some yarn from for Christmas last year. I don’t know too many husbands that would do that!! LOL He was so impressed by the people there that he thinks I should buy something from them. Maybe I will! LOL

I’m so jealous of his cafe barista that he will never use. My sister in law has one, that she found at a goodwill for next to nothing, and I occasionally buy her coffee pods so when I visit, I don’t feel bad for asking for a latte.

Oh my. Yes, I wouldn’t feel guilty, either. But think of the yard sale you could have! At someone’s house in town. LOL

When you have your garage sale (LOL) I will buy the one that dispenses hot water, the first Hamilton Beach you show!! Be sure to let us know, it would be worth the trip! Vince has still unremembered multiple treasures!! but, don’t we all?!?! Well, many of us anyway…even after having read “kon-mari” as well as a male author with the same idea!
