This morning I had to laugh . . maybe it was an evil laugh; maybe it was a funny laugh, maybe it was a nervous laugh.
Yesterday I mentioned to Vince about the amazing sale at Madelinetosh. A sale! I thought that would surely have him handing me the credit card! He gave me a look . . probably saying “don’t go there” but I just kept talking. I chose not to mention that I had already placed an order . . oh, maybe it was two orders.
I told him how much I love this Mac & Cheese color. I showed him this little ball of remaining yarn.
I do love it . . so much. Yellow is not my color but at some point in life, the colors that make us happy should matter too. As I was showing him the yellow and telling him how much I loved it, he said “Order a couple of skeins. What difference does it make at this point?” A couple of skeins?? OK. I ordered a couple of skeins in Tosh Merino Light for shawls but I also ordered a sweater quantity.
BUT I didn’t order that til today. You may have noticed that yesterday I didn’t blame Denise or anyone else. I accepted full responsibility for the yarn I ordered yesterday but then this morning, I read this comment from Denise.
It isn’t like I’m sharing a confidential email . . that’s a blog comment for the world to see. Well, the world isn’t reading my blog but . . you know what I’m saying.
Denise got it . . I need it too! So I ordered enough Mac & Cheese in High Twist (DK) to make a sweater. One of the reasons I had talked myself out of ordering it yesterday was this:
That’s Three Irish Girls Springvale DK and it’s more solid. That’s been sitting in my stash since August, 2014. There’s almost 1,900 yards of that yarn. Maybe soon I’ll knit both these yellows and have two school bus yellow sweaters. Or, maybe it will all sit in my stash and some day Nicole will say “What was she thinking?” I do grin thinking about Nicole going through all my stuff some day. She probably won’t think it’s nearly as fun as it would be for me if I found a stash of yarn and fabric like she’ll find. I’m not one of those people who feels obligated to clean it up and leave the heirs with a tidy little estate. I’m going to enjoy buying and knitting, and hopefully sewing, right up til the end!

Once again, I blame you! LOL! Like you I love Madelinetosh yarns, especially Tosh Chunky, But would never give myself permission to spend what it would cost for the sweater I wanted to use it for. Thought I was safe when they discontinued the Tart colorway, so I figured I’d go look and see if they had a few skeins for some mittens when it was on sale…. What did I find? TART?! Guess what jumped in my cart?

That Three Irish Girls is TOTALLY a different yellow. 🙂 You needed both. Once the yarn arrives the hunt will be on to find the perfect buttons…….

Thanks, Judy. I placed an order today as well! When that yellow arrives, I agree with justquiltin… you’ll need to find perfect buttons and perfect ribbon! 🙂

I’m with you. I put up with my sons for all these years. They can clean out my stash. They know my friends. LOL
