There’s nothing Vince can’t fix — with a little help from Youtube!
One $25 part arrived today and within 10 minutes, I have a working oven again.
What aggravates me . . this oven was just out of warranty and every time it would kick on, there sounded like a little explosion in the oven. It was just a little “whoosh” but it didn’t sound right. To me, and I don’t know what I’m talking about, it sounded like too much gas had entered the oven and when it lit, it was a little explosion or, the gas began coming out before the lighter was ready for it. From anywhere in the house, we could hear it every time. We called the repairman and I was shocked that he charged $125 and said there was nothing wrong with it. He heard the noise I was hearing and still said there was nothing wrong with it.
After Vince figured out that the igniter is what had gone out in the oven, I said “I’ll bet when you fix it, we no longer hear that whooshing sound when it kicks on. Right! You never hear a sound now. Even if I’m in the kitchen, I don’t hear it when the oven kicks on.
I’m thankful for a husband who can and will fix things. I’m thankful for a $25 part that makes one of my most used appliances work again.

When we first moved into this house we got a General Electric electric range. The oven elements went out every nine months. Crazy, right? I didn’t even use it that much. After about the third time an electrician friend of ours ordered generic compatible elements & we put them in ourselves. The elements never went out again all the rest of the time we owned that stove….several years. I more than suspect the appliance repair business is a scam, and it definitely is handy to have a husband who can fix things or you can do it yourself. Also, youTube is wonderful. I’ve even found videos that helped the hubby fix non-running lawn mowers.

Thank God for Youtube! My 9 year old was able to change out my suburban headlights. Her hands were small enough to get down in there and I didnt have to disassemble half the front end.

That’s awesome! I had to do my little Honda, the headlight behind the battery. Having tiny hands sure helped there! You Tube for the win!

Speaking of hearing appliances, a friend showed me her mini-split AC (that I had never heard of before you) yesterday and demonstrated the silent running of it. We opened the window right over it and couldn’t hear a thing! Makes me hope that that what the next door neighbor is installing right outside our bedroom window.

Some times I think there are repairmen who deliberately do not fix things so you will have to call them again! I know there is a a/c place here and one of the guys told me one time they were told if there was nothing wrong when they went out to see about it, there should be before they left! I do not trust those people at all!! A. Temp.

Will you be letting the “bogus repairman” know that he was WRONG and owns you a refund?!?!?!? Maybe even his boss or company should hear about it, too. I am furious for you.
