Addie loves going to the Mexican restaurant and I think (1) it’s expensive and (2) the service isn’t always the best but she loves quesadillas and refried beans. The last time I was there, I told her that I can make refried beans. She didn’t believe me but I made them and she said mine were better than those at the restaurant.
The other day Vince and I were in Aldi and they had these quesadilla makers. There was a debate in my head! I do not need, nor do I have room for any more kitchen gadgets. Every time Addie and I go to the Mexican restaurant, it’s at least $25 for the two of us to eat – usually more.
So, I got one!
We bought these flour tortillas from a local restaurant where they make them. They’re thick and kinda “bready” and they’re so good!
I was thinking I’d grill some chicken, shred it and use that for the meat but then I saw this at Aldi – finely sliced ribeye steak.
I browned it in a little butter, with onions and seasoning. I told Vince . . that’s the kind of meat my teeth like! It really almost melts in your mouth!
A little Mexican cheese blend was sprinkled on top of the meat, then the top tortilla was added.
Perfect quesadillas.
For less than $14, I’d say that’s a good investment for us.

Ooooh, I’d better check out my Aldi’s! I’ve been wanting something beefy and I already have tortillas and cheese…

I don’t have an Aldi’s around here but I see Walmart has a Hamilton Beach for about $20. What size tortillas does yours fit?
Rosalie says
Did you buy one for Addie? I’ll bet she could make quesadillas for the family if the meat was already cooked!

My husband and I have been talking about getting a quesadilla maker for a couple of weeks now. I wish we had an Aldi’s around here but I did see the one Walmart has online. I think I’ll stop in our local Walmart tomorrow and see if they have it in store. We actually went out for quesadillas tonight for dinner!

I have a large wedge of pepper jack cheese, and was thinking of making quesadillas. We used to make them at group dinners and would bake them (several people). Since you mentioned that little oven (I think on the porch), I’ve been wanting one. I even told my husband about it, but I don’t know where I’d put it! It just isn’t good or sensible to heat up a large oven for two people!

Judy, I told my husband your story about the quesadilla maker and he decided he wanted one NOW! As we could not find one locally, today he ordered one from Amazon. It will be here tomorrow. I am really looking forward to making my own quesadillas instead of going to Chipotle and spending big $$ to have them make them for us.

Looks good to me! I know we won’t have them. We never have anything you write about having at your Aldi.
