By Vince:
How many times have we told ourselves that, “one of these days” I’m going to……., but that day never seems to get here? And before long, that “something” never gets done. Heck, even Neil Young sang a song about it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=anY0xZRQZZY
The other day, as I was doing my morning internet surfing, I came across a list of book recommendations. On that list was the book entitled, The Alchemist. I bought that book years ago and it’s still in our Kindle library. Over the years, I have seen this book on many recommended lists and, when I see it, I tell myself, this time I am going to read it. Well, like many other things, reading a book always seems to take a backseat to more pressing things.
Now, with life slowing down and not as many things seem very pressing (that is, of course, unless they are brought up twice over a 6 month period by Judy) I am sure I can find more time for reading books. So, I have made a commitment to myself to finish reading this book before the end of the year. My best reading time is right before bed. Depending on how tired I am and how interesting the subject matter, the amount of time I spend reading each day varies greatly. The other good time for me to read is when we are on vacation. I know that being retired is like being on a permanent vacation, but getting away seems to eliminate many distractions, especially the Judy to do items for Vince.
I am sure many of you have read this book or at least have read quotes by the author. If you have not, take a look at this website: https://everydaypower.com/paulo-coelho-quotes/
Once you get past all the advertising, I bet you will find a few treasures that will make you think.
Have a good week.

Like you, Vince, I have trouble setting aside time to read. Most of it is done when we are away from home, camping (actually ‘glamping’)or waiting at Dr appts. Seems to be too many distractions at home – like cooking, cleaning, gardening!

I have been a lifelong reader. I always managed to find the time. However, now that my husband has retired I have almost completely stopped. Funny, huh? Anyway yesterday I came across a book that I had intended to read. Slow Horses by Mick Herron. It was a quick read–finished it in a day. Excellent book (not about horses, it’s about spies) the first in a series.

If I don’t read every day, I’m grumpy. Grumpier.
