Pretty catchy title, huh? It seems I have been dwelling on thinking lately because one of the most important things we can do as we age is to maintain (or even improve) our cognitive abilities. If I come across a blog post that even remotely discusses this topic, I will usually spend a few moments seeing what it has to offer.
I did come across one of these posts a few weeks ago and it stimulated my interest enough to order the book it discussed. The book is entitled, “The Five Elements of Effective Thinking”. Being in a minimalist mindset, I ordered a used copy. The book has a lot of information packed into a few pages. I would have liked it better if the type was a bit bigger, but with my glasses off and some good light, I can make out most of the words.
If you are interested in what this book has to offer, without making a purchase, this link will take you to a companion website: https://press.princeton.edu/video/burger/9810.html
Also, there is an associated free online course entitled, Effective Thinking through Mathematics and it can be found here: https://courses.edx.org/courses/course-v1:UTAustinX+UT.9.01x+1T2019/course/
You will have to setup a free edX account to view the material.
This is where I plan to focus my thoughts over the next few weeks. I will read the book three times as suggested and I will also take the course. There is no telling where all this newly improved thinking activity will lead. Stay tuned!

Ah, mathematics! I love numbers and the magic they can produce. Nice to know that isn’t going to waste. =) I look forward to seeing what you have to say about it as you go along. Please post about your insights as you go. I’m trying to decide whether it’s time to give up thinking, like so many other things. LOL
