About the only fruit we’re getting this year are jujubes.
They are so good. I’m surprised they’re not more popular.
They taste a lot like little apples but more crunchy. When they get just a little shriveled, they are so sweet. Vince says they’re too sweet and he can’t get the sweet out of his mouth. As you know, there’s nothing too sweet for my taste buds.
These little ones are off the first tree we planted . . a tree a blog reader found for me in CA when we couldn’t find any here. We have probably six more trees, all different varieties. The newer trees don’t produce as much as this first tree but they’re getting there.

I’d never heard of a jujube fruit before until you talked about it. Never knew what they looked liked till I saw the picture you posted. Must be there are a lot of people like me…they’re not going to be popular until they’re available for people to try. Too bad they aren’t available here. I’d be interested in trying them.

I hadn’t either. The first reason I come up with for them not being more popular is that they probably are not commercially profitable? We certainly see things in the stores I hadn’t heard of 10 years ago.

I have no idea why they aren’t more popular. They’re drought resistant, cold/hot weather don’t seem to affect them, they grow quickly and produce a lot of fruit.

They look like cherries in the picture. I never see them in stores. Maybe they are too labor intensive for orchards to produce?

Now you’ve done it. I am on a wait list to buy a couple of these. You always write about the most interesting things. I think I am going to go to the Asian Market today and see if I can find some to taste.
Judy Laquidara says
Whole Foods or Trader Joe’s may have it too if you’re lucky enough to be near one of those.

On my goodness! You may not remember me replying once about some type of fruit tree I seen on vacation I was going to try to send you pictures of i it. I’m pretty sure this is the fruit!
