Last night I stayed up til after 2 a.m. . . I guess that should say “this morning I didn’t go to bed til 2 a.m.”.
I set my phone to go off at 8:30 so I could get dressed, get breakfast downstairs and go to Auto Zone to get a battery.
Before 6 a.m., I woke up and started thinking about the battery. I checked to see what time Auto Zone opens and was 7 a.m. so I got up, got dressed, went out to try to start the car. As I suspected, it wouldn’t make a sound. The clock wasn’t working, the wipers wouldn’t work. I’m surprised the doors unlocked.
The lady at the front desk gave me the number for someone who would come start the car but I called Vince before calling that guy. Oh, no . . not paying someone to come do it so he called a friend, which I would never have done at 7 a.m. on a rainy Saturday morning. Dwayne came over and jumped it for me. I went to Auto Zone. They tested the alternator and it’s good. The guy said “This battery is over 6 years old. You’re lucky if they last 5 years!”
I bought a new 5 year battery. Briefly, I thought to myself . . this battery will last til I get a new car . . and then I thought . . doubtful. When they put my phone number in the computer, the guy said “The last battery you bought was for a 1996 Chevy pickup.” Yep, still got that truck . . but probably not that battery since we’ve been gone from here 8 years.
When Vince agreed to buy a house in MO, I told myself . . I’m so happy to be able to spend time closer to Addie, I will not complain about the car so . . I will not complain about the car. Well, maybe I’ll complain to y’all but not to Vince.
