Addie and I were going to eat lunch out today so I told her she could pick the place. She told me she was going to surprise me and would tell me where we were going once we got in the car. That would be a risky agreement in another town but I figured it was either the BBQ restaurant where she’s kinda been wanting to eat or one of the two Mexican restaurants. One of them, her favorite, had closed either last week or the week for issues not related to food safety, but Addie has been wanting to go there since I got here. I think it opened back up the day after I got here and I figured it would be packed after having been closed so I’d been putting her off. Sure enough . . that was her choice. The food is always good; the service is not bad but not great and with almost all new employees, with school starting tomorrow and, as our waiter said “Every teacher in the county is here eating lunch today!”, the place was packed.
Yesterday when we went to meet Addie’s new teacher, Addie went to say hi to her kindergarten teacher from last year. She was the best teacher and she loved Addie. She told Addie she sometimes runs by her house and asked Addie if she had seen her. I told her that I think Addie has radar for her because she seems to know everytime Mrs. S. is running by.
When we were driving in front of the Mexican restaurant today, Addie thought she had spotted Mrs. S.’ car. It’s a fairly common vehicle and I told Addie it might be her but it could be someone else. Addie said “No. It’s her. It’s the same number on her license plates!” Addie knew her teacher’s license plate number!
This town could probably use more good restaurants, especially at traditional eating times.

I’m thinking Addie would make a great detective–in real life or on tv! Cash in on those mad observation skills, baby!

Wow, she knows her license plate number! That’s amazing for her age – observation and memory about it.

I cracked up when she told me that – the letters and numbers are the same!
