There’s really not much of a hunt going on at this time. Only one new listing this week and it’s about twice what we want to spend so I didn’t bother looking at it. Not only is the cost of the house more, but property taxes, insurance and utilities would be more. It’s a really big house . . nice, but way more house than we want right now.
Someone asked why I don’t just stay in a hotel when I’m here. Good question and others (including Vince) are probably wondering.
I want to teach Addie to sew and make doll clothes and maybe later, clothes for herself. I want to be able to leave sewing machines set up.
I want her to help decorate our Christmas tree, and have holiday dinners at our home. I want to bake Christmas cookies and make handmade gifts.
I want to be able to leave my “stuff” here and not have to pack the car for two weeks every time we come, haul it all into a hotel, then keep it out of the way, go home with a bunch of dirty clothes, unpack it all at home. I want to enjoy my time here, just walk out, lock the door; go home and have it all waiting for me when I come back next time.
I want Vince to come too and be part of the family activities. Being in a hotel is very limiting. Having our own place, he would have a garage where he could do some of the things he wants to do; he might even have a shop.
Staying in a hotel is good but if we have a house here, we’d probably spend close to half our time here. We definitely do not want to be in a hotel that much!

Good luck on the house hunt! I am leaving in a couple weeks to go find a place near my folks, as they are getting to the point they need lots of care. I looked at some condos online, that way I would not have to do any maintenance, then, we found a cabin company that can build a fairly reasonable cabin, and I can find land to build on, so we might just go that route. I kept up with your interest in Arkansas, as I would love to find a place there, more importantly, to try to buy land that was patented to my GGGrandfather in the 1860’s….. I have heard there was a gold mine on it. Then, we thought about getting close to Crater of Diamonds and getting lucky there! But for now, I have to do as you are doing now, spend my time in a hotel, when I go see them.. At least I know to ask for a weekly rate discount! That sure helps! Have fun while you are there….

There are only two hotels here where I’d stay and neither have a weekly rate but they do have a decent online booking discount. When we bring Rita, it’s an added $25 per night plus tax.

Judy, is the hotel expensive?
Judy Laquidara says
After 10 – 14 days, it definitely is expensive. Also, we eat breakfast in the hotel and then eat out more when Addie is here. Once she goes back to school, I’ll wait and have only dinner with her but we as healthy when we’re not cooking. There’s not really any place here we can go to get a healthy meal.

Our family (9 of us) once stayed in a hotel for three weeks while waiting for our house to be finished. I was mighty grateful for the customer laundry room!

I try to bring enough for my whole stay but usually end up going to Nicole’s at least once to wash clothes.

All excellent reasons for a small house in Nevada. Big enough for all those activities, but not a duplicate of the Texas house. I’ll come to Texas and house sit for you, okay? LOL And then go to Missouri and house sit for you. No one will ever find me! LOL
