Today, the entire day was spent in Abilene, along with driving there and back. I had a dermatology appointment so we went early and ate lunch at Panda Express.
Definitely not low carb but good!
From there we went to the Natural Grocer. I love that store. It’s right up there with Aldi on my list. Natural Grocer for fresh produce, organic items and supplements; Aldi for meat, canned goods, nuts, wine, etc.
From there we went to T. J. Max. We didn’t buy much there – Vince got some coffee and we found some amazing coconut from Australia. It isn’t shredded and it isn’t chips but it’s kinda like what you’d get if you used a big carrot peeler. It has no sugar – just coconut and it’s really good for snacking. We ate some of that on the way home.
Then we went to Sam’s. We needed to get salmon because is going to smoke salmon tomorrow. I love his smoked salmon and we’ll eat on that for days! I did buy purple sweet potatoes at Natural Grocer. Even though they have carbs, they’re so healthy that we’ll eat those every now and then and after today’s meal at Panda, who’s counting carbs? 🙂
After Sam’s, we went to my dermatology appointment. They’re so nice and so quick there. I think it was the dermatologist in Joplin where I used to have to wait forever. They called in a prescription at Walmart back in Brownwood so we left Abilene and drove back to Walmart in Brownwood but just before we arrived, they texted me to let me know they didn’t have the meds and wouldn’t have it til Wednesday or Thursday. So, we went to CVS, they had it so they called Walmart and got the RX, which my Medicare Part D did not pay and it was $95 for one tube of cream. Reminds me of my days on Blue Cross! So far, on Medicare, I’ve needed three prescriptions: one for an antibiotic, one for cough medicine and one for face cream for rosacea. The insurance only paid for the antibiotic. Crazy, but thankfully, I don’t need a lot of meds, at least for now. The Good RX card did bring the face cream down to $88 — not enough savings for a skein of yarn but every dollar helps, right?
It was a long day . . We left puppy pads down for Rita, which she will sometimes use if we’re gone. We left here around 9:15 and got back at almost 5 and she had not gone to the bathroom anywhere. She’s turned into such a good dog when it comes to her bathroom habits . . which needed MUCH improvement when she first got here.
Now . . I’m going to sit and knit for a while. I’m tired . . it’s hard work shopping with Vince.

That’s a long day for sure. BTW, how is your finger? All healed by now? Did the honey show any benefits?

Would love to know what face cream the doctor prescribed. I have rosacea too and didn’t realize there is a treatment other than laser treatment.

The creams did not help my rosacea. I take an oral med that has cleared it up completely. I have to jump through ropes for the insurance to pay it every time it is reordered. And the copays is high. About $75 I think.
Hope the cream works for you. I do know several folks that have success with the cream.

I only use it for when I have the breakouts. It’s been at least 8 years since I had to use it and it was successful then so I hope it will be again.

Hey Judy, I thought of you last week while on vacation along the Trio by Garner State Park. There was some type of fruit??? tree growing by a pool. I couldn’t figure out what it was but thought you would know. I took pictures of it but I’m not sure how to post the pictures here. Hoping to figure it out to get your opinion.

I am always very tired when we go somewhere and it is an all day trip. I guess I am just getting old! My dogs will hold it until we get home, no pads, unless they are sick. The will not go in the house. And we know it is way too hot to leave them out any length of time.
