A reader commented about the ads and asked if you need to click on them for me to receive income. No. I don’t even know for sure how they all work but the way they are, I make enough to pay the expenses of keeping the blog going and paying for itself. Of course, if you see something that interests you, feel free to click on the ads but don’t ever feel like you need to click on them to help me out.
I know the ads can be a pain . . I hear about it often, but with what we pay for internet that’s fast enough to upload the number of pictures I upload, for the hosting/storage fees and for someone to fix the things I screw up, I wouldn’t be blogging, at least not on the scale I do now, without the ad revenue to cover those expenses.
Ads are everywhere – most websites, magazines, even now on my Kindle — it’s something we either choose to live with or not visit the sites with ads. I am sorry that they sometimes get intrusive. I do not choose the individual ads and honestly, when I look at the blog, because I see it 100 or more times a day, I don’t even notice most of the ads. I am able to say I don’t want political, sex, religion and other controversial content matter but other than that, I don’t have a lot of say. I’ve worked with BlogHer for years for the ads and I’m quite happy with them – with the ads and their great customer service.
So . . thanks for putting up with the ads but don’t ever feel like you have to click on any of them to help me financially. Only click through if there’s something that is of interest to you.

You’re right, ads are everywhere! I just ignore them most of the time.

Thanks for the info Judy. It was very interesting and I’m glad you explained it.

As a general rule, I can ignore most of the ads. However, just the past couple of weeks, when using my phone instead of the laptop, not only are there the normal ads that keep the content popping up and down as they’re loading, but now they’re putting a big popup in the middle of the screen, which allows me to only see 1 or 2 lines at the most, at one time. It is SOOOO annoying!! There’s no place to X out of it. You just have to sit there and wait for it to go away on its own. I HATE that!! (OK, I feel better now….until the next time I’m on my phone instead of the laptop, and try to read a post on your blog! 🙂 )

They don’t bother me a bit. I’ve been internettimg (is that a word?) for so long I hardly notice them anymore unless something shiny catches my eye.

I read your blog on Bloglovin. Usually at the top of my iPhone I see 4 lines and Reader View Available. The bars turn to a solid blue box. Once I click on the box, the ads disappear. I can still click on your links if I want to. This option doesn’t show when Vince posts ? and sometimes for yours, Judy but generally if I refresh the link the reader option becomes available.

I agree with Vivoaks. The ad people must have decided it’s too easy to ignore them, so now one giant ad pops up over most of the screen with no way to click it away. For me, it’s easier to ignore on the phone than the computer. If you read too long, another one pops up. Super annoying. I’m stubborn enough to keep reading just the two lines I can see and ignore the ads.

Your blog isn’t bad. It’s a click or two to get rid of something, and I honestly rarely see something pop up that blocks any print on the blog, so sometimes I don’t even bother. Some of the blogs are so bad, I can’t tolerate a visit, and there is something constantly popping up. Your people keep your blog reasonable, and it is never a problem.

I just don’t pay any attention to them. They don’t bother me.

I don’t know if it’s the ads or what but for the past month or so, when reading your blog at some point the blog suddenly disappears and I have a blank screen and wait for it to reload. Yours is the only blog that does it, it is very strange.
