My uneducated guess is that the thyroid meds have started working. This morning I got up wanting to totally re-organize my yarn stash. Part of that comes from having more energy but part of it comes from having a deadline I need to meet and I’d rather do anything except what I’m supposed to be doing.
I understand Vince’s frugal nature but he doesn’t understand my impulsive nature . . or maybe he does and he doesn’t like it but, hey, sometimes I don’t like being frugal either!
All the totes I have in the sewing room, where my yarn is stored, are just a mixture of whatever we found on sale. They don’t stack very well (especially with an odd lid between them!). Some of them are 95 quart and I can’t start to lift those when they’re full.
I’ve had dreams of when we get to our new location (which probably isn’t happening!), just dumping all the yarn in the floor, organizing it and getting it all the way I want it. Right now, even with my spreadsheets, it’s often easier to order new yarn than find what I want to find. Strike 1 for Mrs. Impulsive.
A few months back, Vince found these plastic totes at Aldi. There were only three of them but they were about $9 so he bought them. A couple of weeks ago, I filled them up with yarn and loved them. They have that gasket in them. The plastic is sturdy and I can stack them 4 deep without any of them seeming wimpy.
And some of the totes we have are hard for me to open. I’ve broken a few nails and even a few of the lids trying to open them.
This morning . .
Me: I want more of these totes with the gasket and the easy to open hinges.
Vince: How much do they cost?
Me: I don’t know. We got these at Aldi.
Vince: Oh, I think we paid about $9 but I haven’t seen them since.
Me: If you ever see them again, will you buy at least 50 of them! (Strike 2)
Vince: Do you have any idea how much 50 x $9 would be? All to store yarn you don’t even need!
Grrrr!
So looked at the container and it says “Sterlite 54 quart gasket box”. I began my Google search.
Me: Target has them for about $10.
Vince: We don’t have a Target.
Me: But there’s one in Abilene. We could go there and eat at Panda Express.
Vince: I’ll find them for less (but he couldn’t!)
Me: Home Depot has them for $12.98.
Vince: Can’t you wait til we got to Abilene next time?
Me: Nope! I need them today. (Strike 3)
We went to Home Depot and got 11. We were going to get all 14 but a couple of them had broken hinges and one had a cracked bottom.
Life is good! I’m in the sewing room. Pandora is playing full blast. Almost ready to start organizing yarn. There was a pretty big grease spot on the carpet where I’d spilled it while using the freeze dryer so I got that out, vacuumed the rest of the room and now I’m ready to start.
Boots is already had enough of me in here. He loves it when I’m first in here but it takes about 20 minutes before he starts biting harder and harder. I spray him with a water mist and he’ll at least leave me alone for a while. He’ll eventually go climb up in a windowsill and hope I leave soon. Sorry Boots . . there’s a whole lot of yarn to sort!

Don’t envy your task but you may find something you forgot about that would be beautiful for that one pattern you have been wanting to do!! Happy Hunting!!

Lucky you to get Vince to buy all those totes for you! Good Luck sorting yarn – you’ve wanted to do this for a long time. I hope you’ve already decided how you want to organize it. Oh, that face of Boots! “Just what is it you are doing, and how long do you plan to be in here?” he seems to say.

Why not try to order from Aldi even Prime Amazon might have cheaper. I knowing Vince he has done that ,I just know it. As we get older it gets harder and harder to pick up big heavy totes. So I understand needing smaller ones hope you find them on sale somewhere soon..

Just think, if Vince hadn’t bought the first ones from Aldi on sale, you’d never have known how great they were! Strike one to Vince! LOL
