It’s 5 minutes, by car, from our house to the closest walking path. When we first started our diets, I couldn’t walk much because of my knee but once we got past that, we’d drive down there and walk for about 40 minutes.
Then, starting in May, we had several trips to Missouri and then several trips to Arkansas, and then it was HOT and we haven’t been walking. We keep saying we’re going to do it and don’t.
Yesterday evening, I went out to move the sprinkler and it was halfway cool. Came in and looked at the weather station and it was 84 degrees, which is cool by Texas standards. I told Vince . . it’s only 84! He said “Let’s go walk!” so we grabbed our walking shoes and headed down to the walking path.
While walking, we had our usual conversation about how nice some things are here. This park is definitely one of the nice things. I keep saying “It’s going to be hard to leave here!” He’s way more sold on Arkansas than I am. I still think staying here is a better idea but maybe once I get there, I’ll feel differently. Of course, once I get there, what I think won’t matter much because it will be too late to say “I want to stay in Texas!”
The trail goes around past the city pool. This time of year, there’s always lots of fun happening there. They have music going on the speakers and we can hear it pretty much the whole time we’re walking and I like that.
The trails go on around the football stadium. I took a picture but it was starting to get a bit too dark for a good picture. And, my legs were getting tired. We hadn’t walked in a while and it felt good to be out there.
This morning we got up and both said “Let’s go walk!” It’s always cooler in the morning but there are more people out walking . . not crowded by any means but in the evenings, we pretty much have the entire place to ourselves.
It’s a nice park and we’re lucky it’s on our side of town.

What a refreshing post! My husband and I went for a little drive in our mountains the other day, and I got to enjoy nature without the heat and exercise!

I’m glad you’re enjoying the area around you. I pictured you being much further from town. It sounds nice.

We live in a nice little town, but there are no sidewalks or walking paths, so you have to walk and bike in the streets. The town we’re moving to (we got an offer on our house today after 12 days on the market at almost the list price! So happy!) has some lovely parks with walking paths and one is right near a house we’re looking at tonight. That one has a walking path around a lake. I’m hoping this particular house is THE house…from the photos it’s lovely, has a front porch and a basement for my longarm and is about 3 blocks from our son and DIL and 15 minutes from our daughter, SIL and most importantly, my granddaughter!

Once my foot heals I’ll be driving 15 minutes in to town to walk the trails, it’s so much nicer than trying to walk the country roads where we live.

That looks like Festival Park! Great quiet place unless there are lots of kids there.

Judy, that is lovely! Great that it’s so close. There was a good one in Livingston, Texas, not quite that close to the RV park. There’s a nice one close here, but about 12 minutes drive. I can also go to either mall and walk, and they are each about 20 minutes away. I have done that from time to time, but not recently.
