Today, since we went to town several times and spent time waiting in line, I was reading comments on my phone and one of the times I feel really old is when I try to type a longer message on my phone so I end up not responding to everyone’s messages.
Maybe at the end of the days, I should do an end of the day report and answer comments or comment on comments in one post instead of responding to individual comments. We’ll see. But here are some that I meant to write back to the writers and didn’t do it.
Someone mentioned that they thought we lived farther out in the boonies since we are only 5 or 6 minutes from the park where we walk. We are about 17 miles from town. The park is actually on the outer edge of town . . not even in the city limits I don’t think. The roads in Texas are amazing. The highway in front of our house is two lane but the shoulders are as wide as a driving lane and the speed limit is 75 mph. The “loop” road, which is what takes us to town, same width but the speed limit is 65 mph, so we can get almost anywhere quickly. The hospital and doctors’ offices are on our side of town. Aldi is on our side of town. AgMart where we buy chicken feed, dog food and cat food (what else matters?) is on our side of town. Even in town, it’s a small town and getting anywhere is pretty easy. It really isn’t a bad place to live. I will say that we do not use the hospital here but Hendrick, the excellent facility in Abilene, has built a day surgery center here (brand new) and quite a few of the local doctors teamed up with Hendrick so our medical options have improved greatly over the past year.
Our location is almost perfect. It’s not easy to find small acreage (we have 45 acres) this close to town. You can’t see our house from the road. We really feel “free” to live our lives the way we want without much interference from outside interests
Today (tomorrow will probably be different), the Arkansas house search is on hold. We’re so torn about what to do. Texas is a hard place for us to leave. We’ve done so much here and we do love our place. It’s just that little family in MO that pulls at my heartstrings.
Terri mentioned that the good thing about getting prescriptions filled at Walmart is that I can get refills anywhere there’s a Walmart. Great point. Even when I go to MO and think I’m going to be there 10 days, you never know when I’ll end up staying longer and need more meds.
What did Vince buy at Walmart? Oh my . . Vince is like a kid in a candy store when he sees that “Clearance” aisle. He did buy 10 T-shirts. Not green shirts but navy blue shirts. He likes a wicking T-shirt Walmart carries and they don’t always have them but they did today so he bought 10. Since he had so many, I thought they were on clearance . . but he just told me they weren’t but, they’re less than $4 each so . . who can beat that price?
He found some kind of little plastic boxes . . I didn’t pay attention, but they almost look like little plastic log cabin (not with individual logs . . just looks like logs). It’s a cube about 2 x 2 x 2″. It has something in it – a little toy. He called Addie to ask her if she knew what they were and she didn’t. He said he wants to use the cube for storage. Right!
He bought some kind of “bean” to for Addie and an extra “bean”. It climbs up some kind of ladder. I have no idea . . it was on clearance. That’s all that matters.
Here’s the best one – he bought yarn. It was on clearance! He said he’s going to knit. We’ve been down this road before. He tried to talk me into buying some . . nope, not interested. So, he foundsome he thought I could use for socks for Addie so he bought it for me.
That’s all I can remember but there were a few other things. In defense of the $90, I did buy a package of the white lids I use on jars. I have plenty of wide mouth but needed a package of regular lids so $2.86 of the $90 . . I spent that! 🙂
Tricia mentioned that I went to the doctor even when I wasn’t sick. Nope, not Wonder Woman but I never miss my annual checkup, bloodwork, mammogram and my 5 year colonoscopy. I urge you all to do the same. So many things can be caught early and cured or controlled before it gets out of hand.
One last thing – Vince wanted to go to the park and walk again this evening. No! I took a nap instead I slept from about 4:30 til almost 7 so I think I’ll be up knitting late into the night!

I’ve been staying up way to late – 1 am some nights. This has to stop. Even though I am retired, I do substitute and school starts soon.

We went to Abilene to see the cardiologist. But I got back in time to go to knit night at Quilters Hideout. I slept all the way home! LOL So I was rested up and ready to go when we got home!!

All very reasonable purchases! I napped at about that time today. Yesterday was a little earlier. LOL I’m having to take a lot of allergy meds, and they don’t make me sleepy, but the allergies bug me until I just want to sleep through them.

What happened to Vince’s getting rid of stuff? LOL
