The market in AR where we’re looking is crazy. Houses often sell the first day they’re listed. They seem to sell within a few days or sit for years. Trying to find a house in this type of market, from almost 700 miles away . . not easy.
Here’s the pricing on a house I had been looking at. There are things I love . . seriously love, but there are also things I seriously don’t love. One thing is it has a tiny closet for the washer/dryer. They’re the small stack version and that’s all there’s room for. Fine for a weekend place but not so fine for us. The garage is not attached so that’s a deal breaker for me but, otherwise, it’s gorgeous.
Look at the pricing on this house.
It started out for sale several years ago for $790K, got reduced through the years, was #499K when I last looked. Tonight, after we decided not to get the house we thought we were going to make an offer on (not this one), I was looking again to see if anything jumped out at me and saw the price on this house had gone up to $524K. What? I don’t think they really want to sell it or, they think with the area being such a hot real estate market, they’ll raise the price again.
I thought it was funny but maybe all this is just bringing back memories of when we had to find a house here and the struggles we had and maybe I’m laughing to keep from crying. One thing . . we don’t HAVE to move now but I don’t see the market changing much in the area we’re wanting to move so every house may be 10% more by this time next year. Not much we can do til the house we want comes along. I’m very thankful for a great realtor . . who may not be so thankful for having us as clients. 🙂

I don’t watch the market here often, but it’s interesting to see the changes since I bought my house in 2011. Three houses on the block sold in the last six months. Every one sold in month. Every one sold to first time buyers with young families, children 10 and under. These are people who may have given up on buying a house, but with the better economy are now in better jobs or making more money and can do it. I’m happy for them, and luckily, they are all families whose children don’t run screaming through my yard or woods. LOL Yet.

Maybe try an area that isn’t so hot & in demand.

We’ve been looking at areas and researching for a long time. Vince especially loves this area. There are reasons why everyone wants to be there and, at this point, we feel like we want to get what we want, and be where we want to be, even if it means paying a bit more and having to move fast to get the house we want.

I don’t understand why not design a house just like you want buy land and build it. Maybe buy a RV stay in it while building and move. I loved my old house that my husband and I designed. It had everything I wanted just in the right place. Sad had to leave due to health problem with my hubby. But it is so much easier to do it yourself and get what you want instead of waiting till just the right house comes along Think of the time you could have spent with Son, Daughter in law and Addie. She is growing so fast now. BUT think before designing you will be older someday and make it handicap useable. Just my thought. Hey Vince is so talented he could design it. Make sure to have plenty of plugs in the floor too. I loved my plugs so could move stuff anywhere( wall plugs and floor plugs )
