These socks were so strange to make.
The heel is done first and it’s done kinda like a cup.
Then, both sides of one point are picked up and that’s how the leg is done.
Then, go back and pick up the stitches on the other side of the point and that’s how the foot is knitted.
I used sport weight yarn because, since this was a trial for this strange to me pattern, I wanted it to go quickly. Sock/fingering weight yarn takes forever and I figured I’d rather have less time invested if they didn’t work.
They actually fit quite nicely. There’s a “seam” where stitches are picked up on both sides of that “V” shaped gusset and I’m not sure how that will fill when wearing them with shoes. I think fingering weight will be much softer and the seam will not be nearly so noticeable to my foot.
I’m going to make the second sock and then try a pair in fingering weight yarn.

What an interesting way to construct socks! I like the little bulls-eye on the heel.

I don’t even knit and I think it’s an odd way to do it, but it looks nice.

I believe that for anyone who has swelling in their feet, this gusset with its two seams, would be uncomfortable and restrictive. If no swelling, probably would be fine.
CUTE sock 🙂
