In this day and age, it shouldn’t be so hard to find a decent pair of headphones. I don’t want bluetooth headphones for two reasons. First, I don’t want something I have to charge. Second, I want to be able to use them with my old iPods and they are not bluetooth capable.
I don’t want earbuds. I find myself trying to listen to the TV when I’m really listening to books and then, I’m also knitting and, while I used to could listen to several conversations and do something else, these days it takes about all the brain cells I have to do one thing at a time.
Next, I want headphones that are comfortable. Sometimes I’m listening to a book for three or four hours without taking them off.
Last, I want them to be inexpensive . . as in . . I’m not paying $300+ for a set of headphones. You know I lose everything. I take them off and leave them in my chair. Yes . . you guess it! I come back and sit down on them. I sometimes have them on in the bed and I’ll put them on the nightstand and they often fall off and, occasionally, they’ve been stepped on and then . . I need a new set of headphones.
I asked Vince to help me find something I’d like – not Bluetooth, not to expensive, comfortable for hours . . no! He said “You can do what I do . . google it and find them!” I guess next time he wants dinner, I’ll say the same thing to him . . you can do what I do (but he really can’t!). 🙂
So, I googled and I came up with these.
Let’s home they’ll work. They are Bluetooth, but they also have a wire so I can plug them into the iPods or use the wire if the Bluetooth battery is dead. The reviews said they were comfortable, even after wearing for several hours. They’re red, so they may (or maybe not) be easier for me to keep up with. They were really inexpensive! There was a “clip coupon” thing at Amazon and I think I paid about $26 for them.
They’re supposed to be here tomorrow. I can’t wait to try them. The ones I’m using now are so uncomfortable and I have four books I really want to listen to this week.

For a number of years I’ve used some really light-weight, comfortable headphones made by Sony. The head band is just a thin strip of metal and the ear pieces look almost like ear buds but don’t need to be stuffed into your ears. I always find earbuds painful after just a little while. Best of all they were $9.95 on Amazon. A few months ago I thought mine were failing so I went looking for them to order. Well, guess what? The Sony ones were no longer available, but the same thing was being made by another company, but for $24.99. I got them because I don’t like the bulky ear muff ones, but the sound isn’t nearly as good as the Sony ones. Then it turned out that it wasn’t the old earphones going bad it was the sound on my laptop and since it had other issues as well I got a new one. Getting sound turned out to be a bit expensive!

I had a walkman with the most comfortable earpieces ever, but the thing finally died. I loved listening to books or music as I walked … in Texas, actually! LOL I’ll be interested to know if these work out for you.

I hate earbuds (I canNOT keep the left one in) but like to listen to things from my phone while washing dishes. I should start researching a solution. I would also like something for hands-free phone (landline) use. Maybe I need to give up the vanity of not wanting “headphone hair”!
