I will be sitting in waiting rooms at least once a day for the next couple of days so I was hoping to get these socks started and make enough progress through the hard parts that I could sit and knit them while waiting but I didn’t get that far.
It’s a new pattern for me and the heel is done differently. Heck, the whole sock must be done differently. It’s hard for me to trust the directions. When I can’t figure out how it’s all going to work out, I get frustrated but when I was teaching quilting, I’d always say “Don’t worry about Step 4 til you’ve done Steps 1, 2 and 4” so I have to take my own advice.
The yarn I’m using is a self striping yarn.
Please excuse the skin but I was knitting as fast as I could last night trying to get this to where I could take it with me today . . and I didn’t. What you see there is the heel . . the black part is the very bottom of the heel.
I kinda feel like I’m making a jock strap or something! The orange part you see is one side of the gusset. I’m really anxious to see how these turn out.

Very interesting construction – I’ll be interested to see what you think about these when done.

If it doesn’t work out, you can gift it to Vince. =)
