Here is an example of why I should NOT be on any of the knitting social media sites! There are too many patterns; too many yarn pictures . . and obviously, I have no self control.
I happened on a website this morning, through a Facebook link, and saw that I already had an account so I clicked to see what I had ordered:
February, 2015:
25 skeins of yarn. Why did I order 25 skeins of this yarn and where might it be hiding in my stash? So much for my idea that the cost of all yarn goes up and my stash is like money in the bank. My stash is more like money in the stock market. This yarn was $13.50 when I ordered it and now it’s $12.95.
My first attempt at sleuthing was to search the blog. Surely if I had ordered 25 skeins of a yarn I’ve never used, I would have written about it, right? Nope. I did not. I did find a post where I had mentioned a sweater I wanted to make and the pattern suggested Rowan Felted Tweed but I ordered Cascade Sport to use since none of the yarn shops where I usually make my purchases carried Felted Tweed.
I like those colors but I also haven’t seen that yarn lately either. Heck, it’s been almost 4.5 years since I ordered it. What I did discover is that I ordered the Rowan Felted Tweed the same day I made the blog post about the sweater and the yarn. That makes me believe that I ordered the Cascade from The Loopy Ewe, then I kept thinking about using the Felted Tweed, found a source for that and ordered it also. Who knows what I did or why I did it? But, why do I have 10 colors of Felted Tweed and only 6 colors of Cascade?
The pattern is Hedgerow and it is available here. I don’t suppose there’s a chance anyone would like to knit that pattern with me??
The funny thing is . . this is what I wrote on the blog in February, 2015:
My plan is to work on it just a little each day . . when Vince is at work so I won’t have any distractions, put it away after a while and not get so absorbed in it that it’s all I want to do but . . I can hardly wait to finish it!
I can hardly wait to finish it? That was over four years ago and I haven’t started it! And “when Vince is at work”?? That isn’t happening ever again.
My plan this afternoon is to search for this yarn! Wish me luck. I’ll be happy to find either grouping. Chances are slim that I’ll find both of them.

Were you planning to do sweaters for both you and your DIL? 25 skeins of yarn ought to be enough for more than 1 sweater…
I have some really old yarn in my stash. There is one bag that I run across and think, “oh, yeah, that is for XXX”. The last time I saw it, I decided maybe I should see what other patterns are out there, because I’m not sure I want to make the pattern I bought it for. There is other stuff in the stash where I think, “hmm, I wonder what my plan was for that?”

I think the pattern calls for 17 or 18 skeins but I must have not been sure about a couple of colors.

I hope you found them! Are you sure this is not one of those you put in your cart and decided not to order it?? It is all very pretty.

Your article is a hoot, I enjoyed the read. The sweater is gorgeous and way beyond my skill level, at least all the color work is. I feel you on the yarn stash. I too was in love, bought yarn and pattern and began the project, fell out of love quickly and unraveled it. This was only two colors. I couldn’t imagine ALL those colors. ?

That will be a huge present, if you can find it. =) You would think your blog ads would be all about yarn, but no, today’s ads are advertising something about K1 race tracks!
