I’d hate to be making dog food for a big dog. A chihuahua probably eats about as little as any dog and it seems like I’m always making dog food for her. I know it isn’t as often as it seems because I’ve been home from MO about 10 days, was gone almost three weeks so that pretty much means it’s been at least a month since I made it but a couple of days ago . . it was that time again.
It’s ground turkey, chicken livers, brown rice, ground flax seed, spirulina, peas and carrots, 3 or 4 boiled eggs, broccoli, grated ginger, ground calcium (egg shells), mashed sweet potatoes and mashed bananas. She loves it and I feel like it’s good for her so I don’t mind making it but I have to remember to watch the supply in the freezer so we don’t run out.
There’s 8 containers, 400 grams each. She eats about 80 grams of dog food per day, depending on who’s feeding her. She convinces Vince that she needs to eat about 5 times a day but I cook her an egg for breakfast, then she gets dog food about 10 a.m. and more dog food about 4 p.m.
So, if we stay on track with what we feed her, each container should last about five days and 8 containers should be enough for 40 days. That’s not too time consuming. She’s worth it.

They are definitely worth it. I feed raw, it’s time consuming but they are healthy. I feed my parrots raw also (except the beans are cooked) and give them a few nuts and seeds.

Awesome that you make her food. I’m a bit lazy and just Grandma Lucy’s Pureformance. It’s a freeze dried raw.

My dog eats dog food that I buy. Cooking for myself is enough, without cooking up food for the dog! He’s big and eats a lot.

If Rita was a big dog, she would be eating store bought food too.

Of course she is worth it! She is a sweetie!

It sounds healthy for her, and probably for people, too. =)
