I’ve been home over a week and we’ve been busy catching up on things but today I have time to get some extras done.
I took one batch of yogurt out of the strainer, gave the whey to the chickens and started another batch of yogurt.
We worked in the garden for a while. One row of onions was completely taken over by grass burrs and even though the onions weren’t ready to come out of the ground, the only way to get the grass burrs out was to pull up everything so Vince pulled up these onions.
I like to ferment our morning oatmeal at least 24 hours so I got the oatmeal started for Tuesday morning. I started Monday morning’s oatmeal last night.
We eat a a good many roasted peanuts for snacks, just a few at a time, and we like the ones we roast at home better than the ones already roasted so I roasted (or parched) two bags of peanuts.
Before I left almost a month ago, I put some fruit to soak in balsamic vinegar so I strained that, added a bit of honey and we’ll have that for our salads. The two small jars in front are raspberry and the larger jars in back are blueberry.
Last thing I did was roast garlic. We’re having steak tonight and we love to spread roasted garlic on it. I’ll mash this all up and mix it with a bit of olive oil, salt and pepper and it will be great over steak.
I believe I’ve earned myself a little knitting time!

My daddy used to grow peanuts and then roast them in the oven, yummy. I can still remember eating them hot out of the oven.

The peanuts brought back a wonderful funny story. My grandmother would parch peanuts for us grandkids at night to eat while watching tv. When you smelled burning peanuts it was HURRY get to the kitchen and get the peanuts out of the oven! Great memories.

You make my head spin!!! I do have a plan for dinner tonight, so think I’ll head down to my sewing room and get a wall quilt on my long-arm. Let me say this again–you are amazing!!! (That’s what making my head spin means.
LOL) You and CJ keep me going when I need inspiration!
