New Knitting Patterns

Today’s Dinner

It’s been a while since I’ve shared new knitting patterns so here are a few that have caught my attention recently.

Niamh – fingering weight pullover. I’m not a big fan of fingering weight sweaters but this one looks so wearable (and easy to knit). I could see this being something I could throw on over all kinds of tanks or t-shirts if I needed to quickly look decent to run an errand. Also, with the large neck opening, it would be easy to get on and off. I guess I’m officially getting old when the ease of getting in and out of clothes matters. I’m not sure what yarn I would use for this but I do have several choices here.

Altheda – It wasn’t so much the sweater design that caught my attention (though I do love Jennifer Steingass’ colorwork designs), but the recommended yarn that I’m anxious to try that had me waiting for this pattern to be released. It’s unusual for me to order yarn before the pattern is out but I did with this project. The recommended yarn is Plötulopi – Unspun Icelandic by Istex. It’s actually roving and if you read about it, it is fragile and “different” to work with but because of the long staple fiber, it is supposed to be very strong. I ordered clover green for the main color and ivory for the colorwork and I ordered it from Webs . . not that I’m trying to talk anyone into ordering anything!

Ragdoll Unicorn – This is a crochet pattern and that’s not my idea of fun but you can guess it was Addie who saw the pattern and wanted it. It’s a free pattern.

Not Too Much – This is a pattern I added in December, 2018 but cast on while at Chad’s and I’m really enjoying it. Maybe later today I’ll get enough knitting done that I can share a photo of my progress.

I made a pair of socks from roving. It was interesting to knit with – as you said very fragile – so you had to pay attention as you knit. But once knit the fabric was very strong, and yet still soft.

I like the “not too much” pattern with the longer and looser options. Looks like it would be very comfortable.

I love all of these, even Addie’s Unicorn! The sweaters are so stylish and good looking! I finally started on my Wings from Skeino. It is mostly short rows and I think I am going to really like it! It was my Mother’s Day present that I picked out myself.
